2020 Mercedes-AMG GT C Coupe

This year marks Seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton drove for Mercedes last year after a hugely successful 12 seasons. During that time, he achieved an incredible 84 wins, 78 pole positions and 6 drivers’ championships. To commemorate this incredible achievement in one of the most difficult and challenging series in motorsport, I decided to make my Daily Pick a fitting car to celebrate his achievement.

Today’s pick is this stunning 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT C Coupe, which coincidentally was built in the same year that Hamilton won his sixth championship with Mercedes, which also put him in direct contact with Michael Schumacher has a tie of seven F1 titles.

I think this choice is more appropriate because the AMG GT itself has a pretty amazing record, with class wins at almost every track in the world, including 1-4th place at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, and The 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Daytona.

This particular car is the GT C, a high-performance variant of the AMG GT. Under the hood is a Mercedes M178 V8 tuned to deliver 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque. The GT C also has a wider body and active rear steering.

The seller describes the car as a gorgeous second-owner GT C Coupe. The exterior is covered in optional Designo Selenite Gray Magno paint, with clear protective film on the front bumper, hood and fenders. The interior features black and silver Nappa leather with matte carbon fiber trim.

This 2020 GT C also comes with original GT R wheels and tires and an original GT R carbon fiber fixed rear wing. The stock electric GT C Wing and GT C wheel/tire package are happily included with the purchase of the car, along with interior and exterior covers, two remote keys and the owner’s manual.

There is another connection between Lewis Hamilton and the AMG GT: Lewis used the car for demonstrations at F1 circuits around the world during his tenure at Mercedes. Like Hamilton himself, the AMG GT, a weapons-grade V8-powered supercar, is one we’re unlikely to see again as we lean more and more toward electric cars. In fact, being able to drive at the limit as easily as a daily driver can help you fantasize about being a better driver than you are now. I know it does this every time I test.

There’s another factor that makes me very bullish on these cars as future classics. In all its variations, the AMG GT is probably the simplest supercar you can own and enjoy. Yes, the service won’t be cheap, but it’s much cheaper than anything you can think of in Italy. Furthermore, the AMG GT is a supercar you can use every day. You can take it to take your kids to school, head to the office for a few hours, get to the track in the early afternoon, and then drive back to pick them up from your kids’ school. Try it on a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

The last thing that makes the AMG GT very attractive is the price. There’s no doubt that these machines are the most affordable supercars on the market, and with a asking price of $119,999, this one might just be the Christmas gift you give yourself this year. It’s also the perfect way to commemorate Hamilton’s achievements in the car you drive every day.
