- Mercedes is giving the third-generation GLS its second facelift.
- The range-topping Mercedes-Maybach variant was recently spotted undergoing testing with star lights and a new front fascia.
- The interior will get a tech-focused revamp, including a new pillar-to-pillar display.
If you like understated luxury cars, prepare to scoff in disgust, because the Mercedes-Maybach GLS is getting a gorgeous makeover. While the crossover wasn’t exactly a wallflower to begin with, the facelifted model practically screams “Look at me, I’m a Mercedes.”
var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:()}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){ adpushup.triggerAd(“0f7e3106 -c4d6-4db4-8135-c508879a76f8”); } else { adpushup.triggerAd(“82503191-e1d1-435a-874f-9c78a2a54a2f”);
This new attitude is reflected in the redesigned headlights, which have a star pattern stacked on their outer edges. These echo the new taillights, which also incorporate a star pattern.

Additional changes are limited, but we can expect a revised front fascia to accommodate larger headlights. The model also appears to have a revised grille and rear bumper, but it’s difficult to tell for sure by the camouflage.

While spy photographers didn’t get to see what’s inside, previous images suggest the GLS will feature a new widescreen display that appears to span the width of the interior. This has become a common theme among three-row luxury SUVs, as the Cadillac Escalade has a 55-inch display and the Lincoln Navigator has a 48-inch screen.
Of course, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS is more about luxury, as the $178,450 crossover comes with four- or five-passenger interiors and a wooden partition that separates the cabin from the luggage compartment. Customers also get fold-down rear tables, a rear refrigerator and a silver-plated champagne flute.
Under the hood, we can expect the familiar twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine with mild-hybrid technology. It enables the current model to produce 550 hp (410 kW / 558 PS) and 538 lb-ft (729 Nm) of torque. This results in a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) acceleration time of 4.8 seconds.
