Exhibitor Advocate is pleased to announce the addition of Balkiz Sumerler to its Board of Directors. With over 20 years of experience in event management and planning, Balkiz joins the Board of Directors to provide strategic insight and leadership as the association continues its mission to amplify the voice of exhibitors in the exhibitions and events industry.
Balkiz Sumerler, currently the Global Events Director at Philips, is known for her results-oriented leadership and analytical thinking. She has extensive experience as a trade show organizer, exhibition stand construction, and communications and PR. Having worked across Europe, North America, and the Middle East, she brings a wealth of cultural and operational insights to every project.
Her proven track record speaks for itself, having driven strategic event management initiatives, optimized cost efficiencies, and spearheaded large international trade shows. Balkiz excels at fostering cross-functional collaboration and working with an enterprise mindset in a matrix organization.
The appointment marks a significant step for The Exhibitor Advocate as Balkiz will bring an international perspective to the organization. Her presence in Europe expands the Association’s on-site involvement to European events. Additionally, her focus on data-driven decision making will be extremely valuable in educating exhibitors on measurement and data analysis, further solidifying The Exhibitor Advocate’s commitment to innovation and growth.

Balkiz Sumerler will fill the vacant position on the Board of Directors, her term of office will expire at the end of 2025. She lives in Zurich, Switzerland with her two children and has both expertise and a passion for supporting exhibitors and promoting innovative success in the events sector.
