Although GMA wants the T.50 to be a direct competitor to the Mulsanne, there are a number of obstacles to doing so.

- The small British brand will most likely use the Garage 56 to compete in Le Mans.
- With its roaring V12 engine, the T.50 will be one of the best-sounding cars in endurance racing.
Dario Franchitti, brand and product director at Gordon Murray Automotive, said he would love to see the T.50 supercar compete at Le Mans, but getting it to meet the regulations won’t be easy.
Next year will beday This year marks the anniversary of the Gordon Murray-designed McLaren F1 winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and while it would be fitting to see the T.50 directly at the Mulsanne circuit on that anniversary day, having just one year to prepare it might not be enough.

“The question now with the T.50 is where would you put it?” Franchitti told CarBuzz. “It weighs less than 900 kilograms (1,984 pounds); the car that won the Le Mans Hypercar race this year weighed 1,200 kilograms (2,645 pounds). I don’t know how you would balance it. There are all kinds of obstacles in the way. Believe me, I would love it. I think the big guy (Gordon Murray) is still passionate about racing.”
One way GMA could have gotten the car approved is by qualifying it for Garage 56. The class, now in its 12th year, allows concept cars, innovative prototypes and other cars to compete in the world’s most prestigious endurance race. The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 NASCAR that competed last year was a Garage 56 entry.

“I hope GMA will race in the future, I’m looking forward to it,” Franchitti said. “I’m not sure if the T.50 will be able to do it; I’d love to see it run, even as a Garage 56 thing… Never say die.” “Just imagine that thing, that lovely V12 roaring down Mulsanne Straight among the trees.”
GMA recently began developing and testing its second model, the T.33. The new supercar will be about 100 kg (220 lb) heavier and cheaper than the T.50, but will be powered by the same basic 3.9-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine as the Cosworth. This engine has been modified with new camshafts, a special air intake, and a custom exhaust system.
