Following the success of its sold-out edition earlier this year, Green Events & Innovation will return for its 17th edition in 2025 – GEI17. The premier conference for event sustainability will bring together global innovators and industry leaders to share, network and accelerate environmental and social action to make impactful change in the events, music and sports sectors.
GEI17 will bring together the brightest minds in sustainability to explore and celebrate the future of green events with a jam-packed agenda of discussions and case studies; a showcase of the most disruptive actions and developments taking place today; unrivalled networking opportunities in the event sustainability space; and a delicious five-star vegan lunch and closing reception.
Last year’s event featured more than 50 speakers, including artists Brian Eno, Jarvis Cocker and Blaine Harrison (Mystery Jets); climate justice activists Dominique Palmer and Tori Tsui; and Dale Vince OBE (Ecotricity), Cathy Runciman (EarthPercent), Carol Scott (TAIT), Patricia Yagüe (Live Nation), John Langford (AEG Europe) and Tom Schroeder (Wasserman Music).
One of the main topics currently scheduled for discussion is audience mobility, which will be a theme throughout the day, including an exclusive deep dive into the TICKET TO RIDE project by The Changency & Crowd Impact and German rock band AnnenMayKantereit, as well as the impact of business structures and ticketing on fan mobility (Hello, the Swifties and Adele’s German residencies).
Additionally, Massive Attack’s Act 1.5 climate action accelerator – hailed as the future of green events – will be featured, along with a panel dedicated to the second phase of the programme (to be announced on 24th Fall); while the much-coveted Rapid Innovation Round will give a small number of selected delegates the opportunity to pitch their innovative solutions to the rest of the delegation. Applications are now open.
As always, the day will end with the 2025 International Green Festival Awards, sponsored by Skydiamond (the world’s first carbon-negative certified diamond made from atmospheric carbon), where we will honour and celebrate the most innovative, inspiring and aspirational green events, venues, organisations and individuals from the past 12 months. Last year, 27 candidates from 12 countries were shortlisted as finalists, with the top honour – the 2024 International Green Festival Award – going to Paradise City in Belgium, who also won the Green Dining Award for their local and vegan menus.
Claire O’Neill, CEO and founder of AGF:
“As we approach GEI17, the heat is rising, both literally and figuratively. The temperatures are at their highest, the rainfall is at its heaviest, the winds are at their strongest; a peaceful climate protest has been met with the longest prison sentence in history; and we are all witnessing ‘the most thoroughly documented genocide in history,’ with its inhumanity laid bare.
“The events and live events industry is directly feeling the effects of global tensions, with rising costs, increasing ethical scrutiny and uncertainty, and in the worst-case scenarios, war and climate change directly impacting operations. Some are simply heading in the wrong direction, while others are taking the most ambitious green actions we have ever seen. We are experiencing major change, which is sharpening focus, fostering innovation, and inspiring action. GEI’s purpose is to accelerate this transformation through events, and have fun while doing it. We can’t wait to get together again in February!”
GEI is AGF’s flagship event and is held in partnership with the International Live Music Conference (ILMC), the world’s leading platform for the live music and entertainment sectors.
GEI17 will take place on Tuesday 25 February 2025 (the day before ILMC) at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in central London.
