Honda 0 sedan and SUV to debut in 2026 – Honda 0 series

The Honda 0 series made its debut at CES 2025 and includes two models: Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV. The lineup is targeting North America first, followed by Japan and Europe. The vehicles will be launched in 2026 and integrate ASIMO OS, a system that has been continuously developed since 1986, to provide advanced, user-tailored mobility solutions.

ASIMO OS supports software-defined vehicle (SDV) architecture, supporting over-the-air (OTA) updates and autonomous behavior control. At the heart of the architecture is the integration of an electronic control unit (ECU) into a single high-performance system-on-chip (SoC) co-developed with Renesas Electronics. This reduces system complexity while enhancing autonomous driving, driver assistance and infotainment performance.

Level 3 Automation at Honda 0 Saloon: Safety First

Honda 0 Saloon uses Level 3 autonomous driving technology. The technology, first introduced in the Honda Legend in 2021 with SENSING Elite, uses Honda AI and Helm.ai’s unsupervised learning methods. It mimics the behavior of an experienced driver and uses collaborative artificial intelligence to implement safety measures such as avoidance and collision prevention.

The sedan looks compact but is surprisingly spacious inside. It is equipped with the ASIMO operating system to provide ultra-personalized mobility by analyzing driver preferences. The sedan redefines compact electric vehicles (EV) with modern technology and user-centric design.

From gyroscopes to user experience: Technology shapes cars

The Honda 0 SUV focuses on midsize versatility and a roomy cabin. Its Space-Hub concept was first unveiled at CES 2024 and integrates a 3D gyro sensor. These sensors enable high-precision attitude estimation and vehicle stability, ensuring optimal driving dynamics. Digital user experience (UX) elements enhance connectivity and functionality, all powered by ASIMO OS.

ASIMO OS itself is a legacy of Honda’s robotics innovation launched in 2000. Its autonomous behavior control and artificial intelligence-driven mobility solutions form the foundation of Honda’s move toward smarter, human-centered vehicles. The operating system facilitates OTA updates, ensuring the vehicle remains updated with minimal user intervention.

Making Level 3 automation affordable and ubiquitous

Self-driving technology remains a priority for Honda, as evidenced by their vision to achieve zero traffic fatalities. Extending Level 3 eyes-closed technology to different driving situations is central to this vision. Affordability and widespread adoption are goals for the future, along with the development of autonomous vehicles that are easier to use.

Collaboration with Renesas Electronics enhances Honda’s SDV. Consolidating ECUs into a single core simplifies the electrical and electronic (E&E) architecture, improving efficiency and reliability. This partnership enhances vehicle dynamics while simplifying system maintenance.

Learn like a human and drive like a pro

Honda AI’s unsupervised learning and behavioral models ensure safer adaptive driving. These technologies aim to replicate human decision-making, especially in complex urban scenarios. Collaborative AI complements these systems by collaboratively predicting and resolving potential hazards.

The Honda 0 Series represents the fusion of electric vehicle innovation, artificial intelligence integration and robotics expertise. Thin, smart design principles provide a tailor-made experience for a global audience and set the benchmark for electric vehicles. These advancements align with Honda’s broader mission of sustainable and smart transportation solutions.
