
Polaris, Boutique The Volvo high-performance electric vehicle brand has teamed up with everyone’s favorite 1:64 die-cast company Hot Wheels to host a 2024 design competition. Entrants are invited to submit designs inspired by Polestar’s design language. The Polestar Design Competition was chosen from more than 1,200 entries.
If you feel like you’re aging faster than time, it’s hard to understand Volvo these days. Polestar is a racing and tuning company from Sweden that was acquired by Volvo in 2015 and repositioned itself as an electric car manufacturer two years later. In fact, the original company has been modifying Volvo cars since 2009, just like AMG does for Mercedes-Benz.
Now a brand in its own right, Polestar has produced several of the more stunning Volvo models in recent memory. Polestar has four models so far, three of which are still in production. The Polestar 5 is expected to go into production in 2025.

Designer Shashank Shekhar from India emerged as the 2024 winner. His “Polestar TRX” earned the rights to have its design rendered by Hot Wheels, and it also happens to be the first Polestar developed by the die-cast brand. “I’m happy to win. This will be the first design of my career, so it means a lot to me,” said Shekhar. “I never thought that one day, something I created would end up being a Hot Wheels car. It’s been a great journey and I’ve had a great time so far. As a young designer, Things like this give you a lot of confidence.”
Juan-Pablo Bernal, head of interior design at Polestar, said: “We are always looking for innovative ideas related to this theme and the submissions definitely exceeded our expectations. We have seen some of the boldest designs yet. I can’t wait to see them What the ‘Polestar TRX’ collectible will look like in real life.”

Powei Chen from Italy won the runner-up in the Polestar Design Competition with his “Cyber Shaker”, followed closely by German player Roman Moor and his “Polestar Track Toy”.

“Hot Wheels is excited to partner with Polestar on this innovative design competition,” added Ted Wu, Mattel senior vice president and global design lead for vehicles and building sets. “We look forward to seeing the ‘Polestar TRX’ in 1:64 scale and welcome this die-cast model into our Hot Wheels history.”
