Hyundai Confirms N Vision 74 Is Officially In Production
  • A launch date for the model has not yet been confirmed, but it is expected to be available before 2030.
  • N division head Albert Biermann recently rejected the idea of producing the N Vision 74.
  • The production model’s powertrain will likely differ from the original concept.

After years of speculation and reports claiming the N Vision 74 would go into production, and other reports saying it would never see the light of day, Hyundai appears to have quietly confirmed the N Vision 74 will go into production.

At the automaker’s recent 2024 CEO Investor Day, Hyundai detailed its future plans with a 71-page slide deck. One of the slides showed that Hyundai will launch 21 new electric vehicles by 2030, and among the planned N and Genesis models is the N Vision 74, which Hyundai calls a “high-performance electric vehicle.”

Hyundai has not provided other details about the car, but said it plans to “offer customers a wide range of choices from its electric vehicle lineup, ranging from mass market to luxury/high-performance models.”

There has been much speculation about the future of the N Vision 74 since its mid-2022 unveiling. The concept car featured a 62.4 kWh battery pack and a hydrogen fuel tank driving an electric motor for a total of 670 hp and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. The production model will likely be fully electric, as there is no mention of hydrogen fuel tanks in any of the company’s future electric vehicles.

In May, South Korea reported that Hyundai had approved the production of 200 of the concept, with production reportedly set to begin in June 2026. Each car could cost more than $300,000 and will be a new highlight for the brand, just as the LFA took Toyota and Lexus to new heights.

Hyundai appears to have approved the car’s production against the wishes of Albert Biermann, its executive technical advisor and N brand mastermind. In a February interview with CarScoops, Biermann seemed uninterested in producing the N Vision 74, saying the N brand’s job was not to build “show cars” but to “build cars for kids, for enthusiasts” that were affordable and “suitable for track days.”
