In mid-September, New York-based JetBlue Airways announced that it will open its first airport lounges by the end of next year. The airline’s first lounge will open at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, with a second lounge scheduled to open soon after at Boston Logan International Airport in Massachusetts. The announcement comes in response to growing demand for premium services and will serve as a signature benefit for its top-tier TrueBlue Mosaic members, as well as a benefit of its new premium credit card (coming soon).
“Customers have been asking for JetBlue lounges for years, and we can’t wait to open them in New York and Boston,” said JetBlue President Marty St. George in a prepared statement. “Lounges have become a must-have for a growing number of customers seeking premium experiences, and JetBlue lounges will further enhance the value of our TrueBlue loyalty program as we expand our JetBlue credit card portfolio.”
Access to JetBlue airport lounges is primarily reserved for TrueBlue Mosaic 4 members, transatlantic Mint customers and holders of the upcoming JetBlue premium credit card, all of whom will receive complimentary access — Mosaic 4 members and new cardholders will also receive a free guest pass. Other eligible customers will also be able to purchase day passes and guest passes to the lounges, space permitting, while annual passes will be available to everyone.
The New York lounge is 8,000 square feet, while the Boston lounge is larger at 11,000 square feet. Both lounges showcase local and regional art and offer helpful amenities such as a full-service bar, complimentary food, private work areas and numerous shops. Complimentary barista-made coffee bar beverages are also available.
