Land Rover Defender lineup simplified: new features

Land Rover recently made significant changes to the Defender range, streamlining its engine and trim options to better suit customer preferences.

Current Engine Options

The Defender’s engine choices have been significantly reduced:

2.0-litre petrol engine: This engine is currently only available in the 110 model, and only in X-Dynamic HSE trim. It is the only petrol option left in the range.

3.0-liter diesel engine: This option is available on all three body styles (90, 110 and 130) and in three trims: X-Dynamic HSE, X and Sedona Edition.

Impact on pricing

These changes have some notable impacts on pricing:

Base price increase: The Defender’s base price has increased as a result of the removal of the 2.0-litre petrol engine from the 90 body style.

Top price drops: The exit of the 5.0-litre V8 engine has brought down the top price of the Defender. However, it is worth noting that the recently launched Defender Octa V8 is still available but in limited quantities, especially for India.

Production and delivery

The Defender is still sold as an import, while the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have recently been localised. Land Rover has also started deliveries of the locally assembled Range Rover Sport today.
