
Mahindra recently revealed the prices of the top-spec version of the BE 6. It is worth noting that Pack One pricing was announced during the launch of the electric SUV last year. The first pack is priced at Rs 18.90 lakh and the third pack is priced at Rs 26.90 lakh (ex-showroom). At these price points, the BE 6 offers an impressive array of features and specs, positioning itself as a very affordable option in its class, almost half the price of another popular electric car, the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Today we’re taking a closer look at how the BE 6 compares to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in terms of features and specs to determine which one is better value for money.
Mahindra BE 6 vs Hyundai Ioniq 5: Battery, range and charging
The Mahindra BE 6 is available in two battery pack options: 59kWh and 79kWh, both using LFP (lithium iron phosphate) chemistry for improved efficiency and safety. The larger battery produces 282bhp, while the smaller battery produces 227bhp, while maintaining a consistent torque output of 380Nm. The Pack 1 model comes with a 59kWh battery, while the top model comes with a 79kWh battery pack. The BE 6 can travel 682 kilometers on a single charge. In terms of charging, it supports two AC charging options of 11kW and 7.2kW. Using an 11 kW AC charger, the SUV takes approximately 6 hours to charge the 59kWh battery and approximately 8 hours for the 79kWh model. With DC fast charging, the BE 6 can charge the smaller 59kWh battery from 20% to 80% in 20 minutes using at least 140kW of charging capacity. The larger 79kWh battery can also be charged from 20% to 80% in 20 minutes, but requires at least 175kW for optimal speeds.

In comparison, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has a single rear-wheel-drive electric motor paired with a 72.6kWh battery. This setup produces 216bhp of maximum power and 350Nm of peak torque, with a range of up to 631km on a full charge, 51km less than the BE 6. In terms of fast charging, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 stands out with its 350kW charging capability, which can charge the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes.

Both the Mahindra BE 6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 come with a wide range of features, but the BE 6 is a more cost-effective option, offering a premium set of equipment at a competitive price. It comes with a wireless phone charger, automatic parking assist, a selfie camera, an augmented reality-based head-up display, and dual wireless charging — none of which are available in the Ioniq 5. However, the BE 6 lacks V2L (vehicle charging). to-load) charging function, which is available on modern models. As for safety, both the BE 6 and Ioniq 5 come with Level 2 ADAS and 360-degree cameras. However, the top variant of the BE 6 retains its advantage with 7 airbags compared to the Ioniq 5’s 6 airbags.
Mahindra BE 6 vs Hyundai Ioniq 5: Dimensions
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is 264 mm longer than the Mahindra BE 6, with a 225 mm longer wheelbase. By comparison, the BE 6 is 17mm wider than the Ioniq 5. The height of both SUVs is almost the same. In terms of luggage storage, the Ioniq 5 offers an additional 12 liters of space compared to the BE 6.

Mahindra BE 6 is priced at Rs 18.90 lakh in Pack One, while Pack 3 is priced at Rs 26.90 lakh (ex-showroom). In comparison, Hyundai Ioniq 5 is priced at Rs 46.05 lakh.

When looking at the top-spec variant, the Pack Three variant of the BE 6 is approximately Rs 19.15 lakh cheaper than the Ioniq 5, making it a more economical option in the segment.
