Maruti EVX Electric SUV concept production version has become the global debut of Evitara Electric SUV – India launch coming soon
Suzuki Motor Corporation has taken a major step towards a sustainable future by launching its first mass-produced battery electric vehicle (BEV), the eVitara, in Milan, Italy. This marks Suzuki’s entry into the global electric vehicle market, with production scheduled to begin in spring 2025 at Suzuki Motor Corporation in the Indian state of Gujarat. Sales are expected in Europe, India and Japan by summer 2025. When launched in India next year, it will compete with the likes of the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Mahindra Be 6e.
The eVitara is inspired by the Maruti eVX concept car, which was first showcased at the Indian Auto Expo in January 2023 and later at the Japan Mobility Show in October. Evitara is positioned as Suzuki’s first global strategic BEV model, embodying the company’s vision for a versatile, environmentally friendly SUV. It’s called an “emotional versatile cruiser” and combines advanced technology with the strength and durability of an SUV.

Eye-catching design with high-tech and adventure themes The eVitara’s design emphasizes the balance of cutting-edge technology and powerful SUV characteristics. With large-diameter tires, a long wheelbase and a sturdy stance, it promises an adventurous driving experience. The interior is equipped with integrated displays, tough-looking panels and a solid center console, all echoing the “high-tech and adventure” theme.
The efficient BEV powertrain at the heart of Evitara’s performance is an advanced BEV powertrain. It uses a high-efficiency electric bridge with integrated motor and inverter, and is powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries known for their safety and reliability. This setup ensures quick acceleration from a standstill and strong overtaking capabilities, enhancing the driving experience across all speed ranges.
Allgrip-E Electric 4WD System Suzuki has equipped the Evitara with its proprietary electric 4WD system “Allgrip-e”. The system features two independent Eaxles at the front and rear, providing responsive handling and impressive off-road capabilities. The ALLGRIP-e system includes Trail mode, which applies braking to spinning tires and distributes torque to the opposite tire, helping drivers tackle challenging terrain with ease.
BEVS’ new Heartect-E platform Evitara is built on Suzuki’s newly developed Heartect-E platform, which has been specifically designed for BEVs. By eliminating underfloor components, the platform provides lightweight construction, high-voltage protection and maximized interior space. This innovation allows for enhanced battery capacity and contributes to the SUV’s efficient design.
