Electric G-Class release price
The electric version of the iconic G-Class SUV or G Wagon has been launched in India. The electric SUV, officially known as Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology, is priced at Rs 3 Cr (Ex-sh) for the first edition. It has no real direct rivals in India and will carve out a niche to offer buyers a high-performance electric SUV with a host of features.

The electric G-Class is available in 5 colors, including Manufaktur Cercei Blue Magno. In terms of design, Mercedes has kept the iconic G-Class silhouette intact, but it incorporates unique elements to visually differentiate it from the ICE models. Overall, the electric G-Class is a perfect vehicle for the discerning SUV buyer in India who wants to stand out from the ordinary.
The electric G-Class looks cool in every way. The signature matte blue color looks stunning on this car. Key design features include the enclosed front grille, which also sports a large three-pointed star. Depending on the package, the electric G-Class also features an illuminated front grille. The First Edition comes standard with Night Pack and AMG Line Pack.

Round LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, fender-mounted LED turn signals, multiple gloss black inserts, bulging muscular bonnet, first edition of the AMG 20-in. Noteworthy elements are the dynamic AMG alloy wheels and the signature side styling that runs the length of the SUV. Instead of a spare wheel, the electric G-Class has a two-tone square casing at the rear.
A new power foundation
In addition, Mercedes-Benz has not made any more changes to the G 580 equipped with EQ technology. That’s a good thing considering the cult following and rich legacy this instantly recognizable design evokes. Internal changes are also minimal compared to the ICE.

Blue interior highlights, most notably the round air conditioning vents, and blue stitching on the fine Nappa leather. The latest MBUX system runs on two 12.3-inch high-resolution displays and also supports augmented reality. Like the ICE model, the Electric G-Class exudes luxury, with refined materials and a superior overall aura. Only first editions can earn certain badges.
As far as the powertrain is concerned, the electric G-Class abandons its fuel core in favor of a large 116 kWh battery paired with four electric motors. Total system output is 579 bhp and 1,164 Nm, with a range of 479 kilometers on a single charge. This off-road vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds.

With just one motor per wheel, Mercedes can achieve extreme torque vectoring, allowing the electric G-Class to perform 360-degree turns or “tank turns” from a standstill. The G 580 with EQ technology also has rich off-road capabilities. There’s a virtual differential lock function, a transparent hood function that displays visual feedback from the underbody, and more.
