MG Comet EV price now starts at Rs 4.99; ZS EV price starts at Rs 13.99 lakh

MG Motor India launches industry-first Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program for its third electric model Windsor Electric Vehicles. The automaker claims that its new battery leasing scheme reduces running costs over a certain period. It enables users to pay based on battery usage. The leasing price of the MG Windsor EV is Rs 3.5 per km, excluding the battery.

Now, MG’s Comet EV and ZS EV both offer BaaS plans at Rs 2.5 and Rs 4.5 per km, respectively. With the implementation of BaaS, the prices of both models have been reduced by Rs 2 lakh (Comet EV) and Rs 4.99 lakh (ZS EV). Buyers can now buy the MG Comet EV at a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh and the ZS EV at Rs 13.99 lakh. In addition, both electric vehicles purchased under the BaaS plan have a 60% guaranteed buyback policy after three years of ownership.

Commenting on the BaaS ownership scheme, Satinder Singh Bajwa, Chief Business Officer, JSW MG Motor India said, “With BaaS, we have created an easy-to-own platform that makes our electric vehicles more accessible than ever before. Given the overwhelming response to Windsor under the BaaS scheme, we are now extending its benefits to our popular electric vehicle models Comet and ZS. I am confident that this unique ownership model will further drive the adoption of electric vehicles in the country.”

The MG Comet EV comes with a 17.3kWh battery and a 42PS rear-wheel drive electric motor. The compact EV claims to have a range of 230 km on a single charge. On the other hand, the MG ZS EV comes with a 50.3kWh battery pack and a 177PS electric motor. The automaker claims a range of 461 km.
