JSW MG Motor India has extended its innovative Battery as a Service (BaaS) programme to the MG Comet EV and MG ZS EV models. The BaaS programme aims to make electric vehicles (EVs) more accessible and affordable, by offering battery leasing services rather than paying for the vehicle upfront, allowing customers to reduce their initial vehicle purchase costs.
How the BaaS Program Works?
Under the BaaS model, customers can purchase the MG Comet EV starting at Rs 4.99 lakh with a battery leasing fee of Rs 2.5 per km. The MG ZS EV is now priced at Rs 13.99 lakh with a battery leasing fee of Rs 4.5 per km. The system allows buyers to pay only for the distance travelled, reducing the overall upfront cost and making EV ownership more manageable.
The program also offers an additional incentive of a guaranteed 60% buyback value after three years of ownership, giving customers additional confidence in their investment. The BaaS program, initially launched with the MG Windsor, has received positive customer feedback, encouraging MG Motor India to expand the service to its other electric models.

Customer-friendly ownership model
Commenting on the success of the initiative, Satinder Singh Bajwa, Chief Commercial Officer, JSW MG Motor India, said: “With BaaS, we have created a flexible and cost-effective way for customers to experience electric vehicles. The overwhelming response to Windsor under BaaS has inspired us to extend these benefits to Comet and ZS EV. This model makes electric vehicles more accessible and will help drive adoption across the country.”
The BaaS initiative is supported by several key financial partners including Bajaj Finserv, Hero Fincorp, Vidyut and Ecofy Autovert, ensuring a seamless customer experience. These partnerships help provide financing options, further simplifying the transition to electric vehicles.
MG Comet EV and ZS EV
The MG Comet EV is ideal for city driving, with its compact design making it easy to maneuver in tight spaces, while offering a certified range of 230km on a single charge.
On the other hand, the MG ZS EV is India’s first all-electric internet SUV and has a 50.3 kWh battery with a certified range of 461 km on a single charge, making it suitable for long-distance travel.
Investment in electric vehicles continues to increase
By launching the BaaS program, JSW MG Motor India aims to lower the entry barrier for eco-conscious drivers and provide a flexible and cost-effective way to buy electric vehicles. The expansion of the BaaS program to Comet EV and ZS EV is a strategic move to attract buyers from various segments.
