New generation Maruti Dzire vs Swift – differences and

Spy photos and videos of the upcoming fourth-generation Maruti Dzire have surfaced on the internet and we compare it with the Swift

The fourth generation Maruti Dzire will showcase huge differences from the existing Swift design. This will be the first time since the two were launched in India that their exterior styling is so different. Dzire is the most successful compact sedan in the country. It is used by private buyers as well as commercial fleet operators. This makes it very popular. The Swift, on the other hand, is one of the most successful hatchbacks in India. Even after nearly 20 years in the country, its popularity continues. Let’s compare the latest versions of these two cars.

2025 New Generation Maruti Swift and Dzire – Appearance

Over the past few days, the internet has been flooded with leaked images of the new Dzire. This is the first time in its history that it is completely different from Swift in design. These images show the compact sedan heading to dealerships ahead of launch. At the front, it features stylish headlamps with multi-console lights, a stylish chrome strip on the grille that extends to the headlamp cluster, and a huge Suzuki logo in the centre. The fog light housing is compact and the bumper is new. From the side, the overall silhouette is familiar. However, black B-pillars and new alloy wheels help differentiate it from the outgoing model. Finally, the rear includes a thick chrome plate on the trunk lid, culminating in LED taillights, a shark fin antenna and a new bumper. All in all, the Dzire will be unlike any previous generation model.

On the other hand, the Maruti Swift doesn’t have much uniqueness compared to the outgoing version. At the front, it gets a new sharper headlight cluster with angular integrated LED DRLs, a large black grille flanked by fog lamps, and a sporty insurance with matte black lower sections Bar. The sides have stylish two-tone alloy wheels, black side pillars and ORVMs with turn signals. Finally, the rear includes LED taillights, a roof spoiler and a sturdy bumper. All in all, the hatchback looks sporty in its upright stance.

Maruti Swift vs Dzire – Specifications

This is an interesting aspect as the two cars will share powertrain options. The existing Maruti Swift comes with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z12E naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces a considerable 82 hp and 112 Nm of peak power and torque. The mill comes with a choice of 5-speed manual gearbox or AMT automatic gearbox. In the Swift, the biggest talking point is its exceptional mileage figures, which are 24.8 km/gallon for the manual version and 25.75 km/gallon for the automatic. Apart from this, the Swift is also equipped with a CNG engine that produces a decent peak power and torque of 69.75 hp and 101.8 Nm. Equipped with the only 5-speed manual gearbox. The country’s largest car brand claims a fuel economy of 26.99 km/kg.

As expected, the Maruti Dzire will share powertrain alternatives with the Swift. So, even it will come with the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with similar power and torque output. However, the CNG iteration will arrive at a later stage. Initially, at launch, we are likely to get the petrol trim only with manual and automatic gearboxes. Also, since it’s slightly heavier than the Swift, the mileage figures may drop slightly. Still, these numbers will be among the best in the field.

Interior and features

Inside, the overall cabin layout of the two cars is very similar. However, the Dzire will differentiate itself from the Swift by offering different interior themes. This includes the color of the interior and dashboard. This is crucial to creating a unique cabin atmosphere.
