Ontario, California— The City of Ontario’s upcoming multi-purpose sports centre has been officially named “Sports Empire Ontario.” Expected to open in the fall of 2026, the complex will serve as a venue for major regional and national championships.
With 190 acres of premier athletic facilities, including 20 long fields, 14 youth diamonds, eight full-size diamonds, four soccer/football fields and two championship baseball fields, Ontario Sports Empire will be one of the largest sports complexes of its kind west of the Rockies.
Ontario Mayor Paul Leon said: “Ontario Sports Empire will bring new jobs, boost tourism and create lasting opportunities for local businesses. This project is an important part of Ontario’s future as a regional commercial, entertainment and cultural hub.”
“This complex is more than just a sports facility, it’s a national destination for elite competition and youth development. It will also be a place for the community to host events and celebrations,” said Jim Arnold, partner and national director of business development at Sports Facilities Corp. “We are excited to work with city leaders and industry experts to create a venue that will elevate Ontario on the sports tourism map and serve the community for years to come.”
Located just 10 minutes from Ontario International Airport, Ontario’s Sports Empire is designed to attract teams from across the country. The city already has 6,000 hotel rooms and numerous entertainment options for visiting teams, athletes and fans.
“This venue will put Ontario on the map as a must-visit city for major sporting events,” said Michael Krouse, president and CEO of Greater Ontario California, the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau (GOCAL). “This is an exciting development that will put Ontario on the national stage and drive significant growth in sports tourism and the local economy.”
