The 6,800-acre Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa, located on the shores of Lake Galena, recently launched a comprehensive group wellness program designed to transform corporate meetings and retreats into a more holistic wellness experience for attendees. Focused on promoting team building, reducing stress and improving focus, the program is led by the resort’s Stonedrift Spa and includes a range of activities including sound baths, guided hikes, yoga, aromatherapy and more.
“There is a growing recognition that wellness is an essential component to successful corporate meetings,” said Colin Sanderson, the resort’s director of sales and marketing. “Studies such as the 2024 Global Meetings and Events Forecast by American Express show that 77% of meeting planners believe wellness elements are critical to enhancing the attendee experience.” In addition to these new wellness-focused options, the resort’s proximity to Chicago and the Quad Cities in Illinois and Iowa makes it convenient for groups seeking seclusion and convenience.
“Our wellness programs are designed to be flexible and can accommodate groups of six or more,” Sanderson added. “Many of the activities are scalable, so whether meeting planners are hosting a small retreat or a large team-building event, we can ensure everyone can participate and enjoy a transformative experience.” While the resort already has a range of more traditional team-building activities, such as golf and horseback riding, new wellness activities led by certified professionals include:
- Collective sound bath
- Guided walks, hikes and nature tours
- Group yoga, fitness and stretching classes
- Mindfulness and Meditation Workshop
- Self-care facial
- Group aromatherapy and hydrotherapy sessions
- Group hair and makeup classes, pedicures and manicures
In addition to these comforting additions, the resort offers 15,000 square feet of onsite gathering space, including the Eagle Ballroom, Point Patio and outdoor spaces including a championship golf course. Available accommodations include comfortable guest rooms and more than 100 private villas and residences.
“When attendees are given tools to relax, manage stress, and enhance their physical well-being, they are better able to focus, collaborate, and contribute meaningfully during meetings,” Sanderson explains. “Incorporating wellness elements into company events can promote a more comprehensive work-life balance, helping teams return to work feeling refreshed and energized.”
