The Royal Chelsea Hospital is a majestic building built in 1692. As the first large-scale royal building, the purple-red color on the exterior of the building with the finishing touch of white shows the unique wealth and sophistication of the royal nobles. The four-column porch symmetrically extends a colonnaded structure on both sides, which is matched by a row of neat arches. The rigorous proportions reflect the rational color of classical architecture.
The top of the inner hall is shaped like a dome, with skylights on the vault to ensure sufficient light in the room. The entire interior decoration reflects the grand style of ancient Greek architecture. Sir Christopher Wren was the designer of St. Paul’s Cathedral. He greatly admired the geometric aesthetics and measures advocated by classicism. From this famous building, people can feel his crazy obsession with geometric shapes and proportions.
