Skoda has officially opened bookings for the Kylaq compact SUV in India. The base-spec model is priced at Rs 7.89 lakh, while the top-spec variant is priced at Rs 14.40 lakh (both ex-showroom). Kylaq is the third model tailor-made for the Indian market by the Czech automaker after Kushaq and Slavia. It is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform specially designed for India. It offers a combination of modern functionality and practical performance. With competitive pricing, the Kylaq is designed to appeal to a broad customer base, offering spacious interiors, advanced infotainment options and efficient engine options. Notably, the first 33,333 customers will get a free 3-year standard maintenance package at an estimated maintenance cost of just Rs 0.24/km. Deliveries of this model are scheduled to begin on January 27, 2025.

Skoda Kylaq: Powertrain
Skoda Kylaq is equipped with a 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine with a maximum power of 114 horsepower and a peak torque of 178 Nm. It offers a choice between a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission. Skoda claims the Kylaq has a top speed of 188km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 10.5 seconds with a manual gearbox. The same engine is available in all four models – Classic, Signature, Signature+ and Prestige.
Skoda Kylaq: design and dimensions
The latest offering adopts Skoda’s “Contemporary Three-dimensional” design language, with a unique piano black butterfly grille. This is complemented by a split lighting setup with slim LED daytime running lights at the top and projector LED headlights in the lower bumper. Although it shares design elements with the Kushaq, the Kylaq looks more compact. It is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform and equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels. Customers can choose from six colors: Carbon Steel, Candy White, Olive Gold, Lava Blue, Tornado Red and Brilliant Silver.
In terms of dimensions, the Kylaq is 230 mm shorter than the Kushaq, 3,995 mm long, 1,783 mm wide, and 1,619 mm high. The wheelbase is 2,566mm, which is 85mm shorter than the Kushaq, and the ground clearance is 189mm.
Skoda Kylaq: interior
The Kylaq’s cabin is similar to that of the Kushaq and Slavia, with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch instrument cluster digital display, wireless charging, ventilated front seats and six-inch seats. The front seats are electrically adjustable. It also features a single-pane sunroof and modern connected car technology. Other interior comforts include leatherette seats, keyless entry, ambient lighting, a six-speaker Canton sound system, a cooled glove box and cup holders.

On the safety front, the car offers over 25 features including six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake distribution, three-point seat belts, rollover protection, motor slip regulation , electronic differential lock, passenger airbag deactivation, multi-collision braking and ISOFIX child seat installation.
Kylaq enters the crowded compact SUV segment and competes with popular models like Mahindra XUV 3XO, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue.
