Skoda’s new Elroq electric SUV is officially released

Skoda Auto has officially unveiled the Elroq, its all-new electric SUV, which will make its global debut in Prague on October 1. As a key addition to Skoda’s electric car lineup, the Elroq is expected to combine the brand’s signature practicality with cutting-edge electric car technology. The latest teaser gives us a glimpse at the exterior design of the upcoming electric car, which will be built on the MEB platform developed by the Volkswagen Group. The manufacturer has hinted at the model’s styling elements on several occasions, hinting at it through sketches. Notably, the Elroq will be the company’s first fully electric compact SUV and the first to feature the new “modern rugged” design language. With the premiere approaching, excitement is building for Skoda’s latest move into an electrified future, giving people a glimpse of what the new model will bring to the electric car market. Here’s what we know so far.

New Skoda Elroq: teaser highlights

The latest teaser shows off the Elroq’s segmented daytime running lights, which form part of the light bar that, as shown in the design sketch, spans the entire width of the vehicle’s front end. The boomerang-style headlamps are distinguished from the daytime running lights by the body paint and will be located below the daytime running lights. In addition, the SUV will feature a closed-off black grille. The teaser also highlights several design elements, including the alloy wheels and taillights. The rear end features the brand’s signature crab-arm LED taillights, in line with other models in the Skoda range.

New Skoda Elroq: powertrain options

Skoda has previously confirmed that the Elroq EV will be available with four different powertrain options. The base model, the Elroq 50, will be equipped with a 168bhp electric motor and a 55kWh battery. The next model in the range is the Elroq 60, which offers a more powerful 201bhp electric motor and a 63kWh battery. At the top end are the Elroq 85 and 85x, both with 82kWh batteries. The 85 comes with a single electric motor with an output of 282bhp, while the 85x adds a second electric motor to the front axle, bringing the total output to 295bhp. While Skoda has yet to announce performance specifications for these models, it has confirmed that the SUV will offer a range of up to 560km on a full charge, depending on the model.

Skoda’s electrification plans

By 2026, Skoda plans to launch six new electric vehicles (EVs), following an investment of €5.6 billion in the field. The expanded product line will include the “Small” pure electric car in the small SUV category, the “Compact” Elroq in the compact SUV segment, the spacious “Combi” station wagon and a seven-seater SUV called “Space”. Skoda’s first electric vehicles based on the Volkswagen Group’s modular electrification platform (MEB), the Enyaq iV and Enyaq Coupé iV, will be updated in 2025 to match the new design language of all future Skoda electric vehicle models.
