Also read: 9 counterintuitive trends in artificial intelligence In their paper, “Sustained Reduction of Conspiracy Beliefs through Conversation with AI,” published in the journal Science, researchers show that large language models like GPT-4 Turbo can engage conspiracy theorists in personalized, evidence-based conversations to challenge and refute their beliefs. This technology offers a potentially powerful tool to combat misinformation in a way that human conversations typically can’t. Testing conspiracy beliefs about AI The study invited more than 2,000 conspiracy theorists and asked them to explain their beliefs and evidence in their own words. GPT-4 Turbo was then used to develop customized arguments to address these specific…

Gas glut prompts producers to change operations
The Northern Hemisphere is experiencing its hottest summer on record, a time when air conditioning goes from a nice-to-have to a necessity and gas prices normally soar. Yet the abundance of natural gas around the world is prompting drillers to pump the brakes and limit supply. Also read: AI-powered surge boosts U.S. natural gas demand Much of the oversupply can be traced back to December. That winter was unusually warm, and there was a surplus of unburned natural gas. In March, the market was flooded with cheap gas, consumers were ecstatic, and producers sought a new round of production cuts. Prices rose slightly, but then plunged again as suppliers reduced output. Big producers like Coterra Energy and EQT are riding the wave. It’s a delicate supply game that, in many ways, is at the heart of market economics. Once prices fall to a level where drilling and supplying gas is no longer profitable, producers withhold supply to compete. The oil…
This Toyota Celica-MR2 hybrid will totally change your
It is no easy feat to blend the front of a front-engine, FWD hatchback coupe with the body of a mid-engine, RWD convertible sports car. A British owner has built a unique Toyota MR2 roadster and grafted a Celica front end onto it. Although the two sports cars are from the same era, their characteristics and layouts are completely different. This 2000s Toyota mashup has fitment issues, including large panel gaps. Back in the 2000s, Toyota fans could choose between two very different sports cars: the front-engined Celica and the mid-engined MR2. But one British owner decided to combine the two into one mind-bending creation. This unique roadster uses the entire front structure of a seventh-generation Toyota Celica, including the bumper, hood, fenders, and a set of aftermarket headlights. The rest of the bodywork, as well as the interior and (probably) the chassis, comes from a third-generation Toyota MR2 donor car. MORE: Toyota Celica rumored to return with 2.0-liter turbocharged…

BMW M3 | Vinyl color change
A few weeks ago we took delivery of this BMW E92 M3 ready for a complete makeover. This project was particularly interesting because the client came to us with an open mind and not really knowing what he wanted done. What he did know was that the black paint was starting to look old and after owning the car for many years, it was time for some new color. We started by wrapping the exterior of the car in Avery Satin White Pearl, which is one of my personal favorite automotive colors. It’s classy, understated, and a color you don’t see every day. It accentuates the lines of the car perfectly, and the black and carbon fiber accents make the car look aggressive yet sophisticated. The wheels were originally black with some curb scrapes and typical wear and tear from daily driving. They looked OK and would certainly look great with a white car, but we wanted something a little…
