Take a long-term view of potential customers – trade shows

Weekly Insight: Take a long-term view of prospects November 10, 2023 A common misconception among exhibitors is that trade show owners must become customers within 30 days (or some other random timeline) for their exhibit investment to be worthwhile. Let your goals be your guide
Let your goals be your guide – Trade Show Insights

When I ask exhibitors about their goals for a specific show, the most common answers are brand awareness/awareness or lead generation. While these are all legitimate reasons to exhibit, they are what I call “vague goals.” That's because there's nothing definite or measurable about them. So, if you have no way to measure your results, especially if someone in your company (sales manager, VP of marketing, or whoever) has to be convinced that a trade show is worth the investment, how do you prove that you're successful? But that’s a topic for another episode or blog post. Today, I want to help you use your goals as a north star to guide all of your trade show decisions: what your show should look like (what it should or shouldn’t include), how to promote it, what to give away, and even how to develop a follow-up strategy. For example… If your goal is to build brand awareness, you’ll want to create…

Don’t quit too quickly! – Trade Show Insights

I see this all the time...exhibitors checking out early on the last day of the show. Sometimes an empty stall will be left in person. (Not the impression you want to leave!) But more often, employees are physically present but mentally checked. I saw this again at a recent show. Of course, there was less traffic on the last day, but there were still plenty of engaged attendees exploring the aisles—even in the back of the hall—in the final afternoon! Even more impressive, a couple of small exhibitors in the far corner had a crowd huddled around their booths. Meanwhile, some neighbors' stalls are also empty. Obviously, there's traffic there. People are looking for their way to that aisle. So what's the difference? At each busy booth, staff stood and interacted with the audience. In the empty booths, staff were more interested in their cell phones or sitting around talking to each other. They no longer follow attendees. While this…

Here are some examples that go beyond logos to let you get creative: If you need more inspiration, here are some posts from the Trade Show Insights archives: What types of creative sponsorships have you seen or…
