A dramatic emergency landing occurred in Victoria, Texas, on Wednesday when a twin-engine Piper Navajo plane unexpectedly landed on a busy road and collided with multiple cars. It’s worth noting that the pilot was the only passenger on the plane, and despite the chaos on the ground, everyone involved survived with non-life-threatening injuries. The Piper hit at least two cars and split in half. Authorities reported that four people were injured and transported to medical facilities, including three to local hospitals and one to a higher level care facility, NBC reported.
According to the FAA’s preliminary investigation, the plane ran out of fuel. Crazy thing is, it almost made it back to the airport before crashing. FlightAware data shows the flight’s route after taking off at 9:52 a.m. that day. After conducting a measurement flight, the aircraft was less than 10 miles from the runway before crashing.

“We’re glad things are not worse than they are now. This is not something we see every day,” Deputy Police Chief Erin Moya told reporters. “But we’re glad people appear to be OK and they’re getting tested.”
The pilot reached a maximum altitude of 16,000 feet during the flight, and the aircraft’s final recorded speed was 145 mph. Considering the severity of the accident, it’s a miracle that everyone survived and were not more seriously injured.
