
Chicago — trade show director (TSE) uses a ranking system to compare current Directory of the world’s top conference centers Divided into size classes. In this system, midsize convention centers are venues that offer 125,000 square feet (sf) to 349,999 sf of primary exhibition space. These facilities include the third level, while the first level (Millionaire’s Club) center has 1,000,000 square feet or more, and the second level (large conference center) venue contains 350,000 square feet to 999,999 square feet of primary exhibition space. The Class IV (Small Convention Center) category consists of primary exhibition space ranging from 50,000 square feet to 124,999 square feet. There are 96 mid-sized convention centers in North America, accounting for 32.9% of all venues tracked by TSE. The third floor also occupies 27% of the entire main exhibition space, with an area of 19,205,076 square feet.

In Chula Vista, California, Gaylord Pacific Resort and Conference Center The hotel is expected to open in May 2025. The hotel will offer 1,600 guest rooms, 140,049 square feet of main exhibition space, 52,302 square feet of meeting space and a water park. On the other side of the country, world equestrian center Meeting space in Ocala, Florida will add 80,000 square feet in summer 2025. cincinnati Duke Energy Conference Center Also expanding, the venue is currently closed due to extensive construction. The museum will reopen in January 2026 with 200,000 square feet of main exhibition space, 104,234 square feet of meeting space and 97,996 square feet of flexible space.
this National Western Complex Denver’s exhibition center is undergoing an expansion that will increase to 852,350 square feet of main exhibit space, 24,773 square feet of meeting space and 20,000 square feet of flexible space. A timetable has not yet been determined, but completion is expected in 2025. In Georgia, Savannah Convention Center Construction has encountered delays. A debut date for the expanded venue has not yet been set, but once completed, the development will have 200,000 square feet of main exhibition space, 114,000 square feet of conference space and 65,000 square feet of flexible space.

Some medium-sized centers also have expansion projects in various early stages of planning. san antonio’s Alamodome and Baltimore Convention Center Both parties are discussing options to increase leasable space. this Oaks Greater Philadelphia Expo CenterPennsylvania is implementing the results of the feasibility study and increasing the amount of flex space available in the complex. this San Diego Convention Center It is in the financing stage.
