

Let’s look at 15 upcoming electric cars in the Indian market
The future of electric vehicles in India looks very exciting with some big names all set to launch their electric SUVs. Today, let’s talk about 15 top electric cars that are set to hit Indian roads soon. So, if you are planning to switch to an electric car, watch this space. Let’s get started!
1. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV
First up, we have the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, which is expected to be launched before the end of this year. The compact electric SUV is expected to compete with the Tata Nexon EV and have a range of around 500 kms. It will share most of its elements with the XUV 3XO ICE version, but it will get unique styling details including a closed EV grille, unique colours, and unique alloy wheels. Looks like a solid choice for the city, right? Expected to be priced between Rs 1.4-1.9 lakh (ex-showroom)


2. Maruti Suzuki eVX
Next on our list is the much-awaited Maruti Suzuki eVX. Scheduled to be launched in early to mid-2025, the electric SUV is expected to come with a 60 kWh battery and a range of over 550 kms. Interestingly, Toyota will also launch a sister model of the eVX in the second half of 2025. So, there are a lot of options between Maruti and Toyota. It will be showcased in its production version at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, where the automaker will showcase its technical specifications and the list of features on offer. It is expected to be priced between Rs 12-18 lakh (ex-showroom)


3. Hyundai Creta EV
Now, this car has been spotted testing multiple times – the Hyundai Creta EV. It will be launched early next year and is likely to borrow technology from the Kona Electric. With a range of 500 kms on a single charge and the familiar Creta styling, this car will be a disruptor in the EV SUV market. It is expected to be priced between Rs 1.5-2 lakh (ex-showroom)


4 & 5. Mahindra XUV.e8 and XUV.e9
Mahindra is pushing its electric vehicle lineup hard, and the XUV.e8 and XUV.e9 are proof of that! The XUV.e8 will be launched in 2025 and will be based on the XUV 700. It will come with Level 2 ADAS, a large 12.3-inch touchscreen, and more. The XUV.e9 will be its coupe version, bringing more style to the EV SUV segment. Both cars are definitely worth the wait! The SUV is likely to be priced between Rs 2.5-3.0 lakh (ex-showroom)


6. Tata Harrier EV
Tata is not holding back! The Tata Harrier EV will be launched in early 2025 with an estimated range of 600 km. It will be available in both single and dual motor configurations, which means there’s something for everyone – whether you want maximum efficiency or extra power. It will look similar to the ICE model but will have unique elements like a closed grille design and new alloys and unique colour options. It is likely to be priced around Rs 2.4-2.8 lakh (ex-showroom)


7. Tata Safari EV
If that wasn’t enough, Tata is also working on an electric version of the Safari! The Safari EV will compete with the Mahindra XUV.e8 and is likely to have a lot in common with the Harrier EV but will offer the extra space and comfort that the Safari offers. It is expected to be priced between Rs 2.6-3.0 lakh (ex-showroom).


8. Kia EV9
Now let’s take a look at the ultra-premium model – the Kia EV9. This flagship electric SUV will be launched in October 2024 and will be equipped with luxury features and a WLTP range of more than 540 kilometers. Although it is a complete vehicle, its technology and features will definitely make it stand out in the Indian electric vehicle market. It is expected to be priced at around Rs 800,000-900,000 (ex-showroom price).


9. Kia Carens Electric Vehicle
Kia’s first locally produced electric car is likely to be based on the Carens. Although it has not been officially confirmed, the electric MPV is expected to be launched next year at a price that could shake up the electric car market. Family-friendly, tech-laden and pure electric – what more could you want? A range of over 400 kms on a single charge. Expected to be priced at Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).


10. Skoda Enjac
The Skoda Enyaq has been undergoing testing in India for over a year and was recently unveiled at the India Mobility Expo 2024. The flagship electric SUV underwent a major upgrade last year. Globally, the Enyaq is available in various single and dual-motor options, including a sporty RS model, but the Indian market is expected to get the top-of-the-range model next year. Prices are expected to be around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).


11. Hyundai Instek Electric Vehicle
The Hyundai Inster EV was recently unveiled globally. It is based on the Casper and has a micro SUV form factor. It will be available with two battery pack options – short range and long range. It is claimed to have a range of up to 355 km on a single charge. We can expect Hyundai to launch the Inster EV by the end of 2025 and it is expected to be priced around Rs 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom).


12. Renault Kwid EV
Renault is gearing up to launch an EV version of the Kwid hatchback. It will feature new exterior elements as well as an updated interior with more features. The electric car was recently spotted testing in India. Renault is using a Dacia Spring EV to test the car but of course the production version will carry Renault branding. It will come with two battery packs for a range of up to 220 km. It will compete with the likes of the Tata Tiago EV, Citroen eC3, Tata Punch EV, and others.

14. Tata Serra Electric
The Tata Sierra EV is a much-awaited electric SUV from Tata Motors that will carry the iconic nameplate. Inspired by the original Sierra design, it will get some modern retro details. The Indian automaker has showcased the car in concept form a few times before and we expect the production version to debut by mid-2025. Based on the new Acti.EV platform, it is expected to have a range of 500 kms on a full charge. Prices are expected to be around Rs 2.5-3.0 lakh (ex-showroom).


15. Volvo EX30 Charging
Volvo EX30 is their smallest electric car so far and has been confirmed to be launched in India in 2025. The EX30 has two battery options – a 51 kWh battery using LFP cell chemistry with a claimed range of 344 km. The second option is a 69 kWh battery using NMC cells with a claimed range of up to 480 km as per the WLTP cycle. It is expected to be priced at around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
