Wagoneer sales increase 48%, fails to save Jeep’s sixth launch

Even Jeep Wrangler sales fell 3% to 151,163 units in 2024

Jeep is an American icon, producing some of the most recognizable vehicles on the market. However, it is going through turbulent times and once again reported annual sales declines. Despite its ambitions, Jeep eventually sold 1 million vehicles in the United States per year.

In 2024, Jeep brand sales fell 9% to 587,725 vehicles. This is a significant decrease from 2023 sales of 642,924 units. The 2023 numbers are also pretty bad, marking the fifth consecutive year of declining sales. Back in 2018, the Jeep brand sold a record 973,000 new vehicles in the United States.

Most of the Jeep family is feeling the pain. Last year, Wrangler sales dropped 3 percent from 156,581 units to 151,163 units. Things were even worse for the Gladiator, with deliveries down 24% to 42,123 units.

Grand Cherokee sales fell 12 percent, with 216,148 units sold in U.S. driveways. Meanwhile, sales of the now-discontinued Jeep Renegade fell 68% to a total of just 8,440 units, compared with 26,011 units in 2023, as dealers cleared remaining inventory. Likewise, the discontinued Cherokee only sold 2,839 units through remaining inventory.

The only one in the Jeep family that stands out is the Wagoneer. In 2024, Jeep sales will be 43,125 units, an increase of 48% from 29,149 units in 2023. The Grand Wagoneer also had a successful year, with sales up 13% to 11,959 units. The small Compass also performed well this year, with sales up 16% to 111,697 units.

The all-electric Wagoneer S was also launched last year. A total of 231 units were sold last year, with the majority sold in the fourth quarter. It will be interesting to see how it sells with 2025 being its first year of full-year sales.
