This Neue Klasse sedan concept is a bold attempt that leaves us with mixed feelings

BMW’s Neue Klasse electric car lineup will result in a host of eye-catching and intriguing vehicles, none more so than the quirky high-riding coupe we spotted in early July. The vehicle depicted in these renderings is far more conventional than that coupe, but it will still turn heads if it sees the light of day.
We know that one of the first production models based on the new platform and using the public design concept will be a sedan, similar in size to the 3 Series and previewed by the original Neue Klasse concept. There may also be a wagon version of the model, and Theottle’s renderings show that it may look better than the sedan – at least from certain angles.

The front end of the car is slightly lower than the original Neue Klasse car that was revealed to the world, but it retains most of the same styling elements, including the sharp LED headlights and daytime running lights. It also features a pronounced front splitter. However, it’s the side profile of the car that really makes it stand out.
The shoulder line is high, while the roof is low, so the side windows are narrow, which doesn’t help much with visibility, but it looks great. The large wheels in a black and silver spoke design add to the striking look, although in our opinion they are a little too big for a wagon of this size.
What about the rear of the car? We’re not sure it looks as good as the front. Similar taillights to the concept car can be seen, but the rear tailgate sticks out oddly and is connected to a diffuser that looks a bit too weird. If this was an M product, the design would be a bit more appropriate, but even so, it’s not what we would call beautiful, and it’s not better looking than the current 3 Series Touring.
What do you think of the Neue Klasse estate? Do you like it or hate it?
