this Daily Selection It’s a 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible listed on ClassicCars.com by a dealer in Iowa.
Some of you may not feel it, but summer is coming to an end. Soon, the sweltering heat will cool down to the milder temperatures of fall. No matter how you look at it, it’s something to celebrate. A great way to enjoy the change of seasons is to cruise around in a convertible, like this 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible.
Chevrolet introduced the next generation Impala for the 1965 model year. The 1966 Impala received a restyled front fender, grille, bumper and wraparound taillights. This ’66 SS convertible is a vintage restoration that benefits from factory refinements as well as some more modern updates, such as a 454ci V8 engine with a four-barrel carburetor and a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission, which replaced the original Powerglide two-speed unit. Four-wheel power disc brakes provide the “retardation” to control the “forward.”
This Impala has plenty of “bling,” too. The body has been repainted in its original Marina Blue color, though the passage of time has left a few blemishes. The color of the vinyl seats and power soft top has been changed to white, giving this convertible a summery interior (so you and your friends aren’t cooking in the remaining summer heat) and a pleasant, carefree sense of brightness.
Speaking of worry-free: You won’t have to worry about the steering being too heavy, because this car is equipped with power steering. Dual exhaust ports let the big-block V8 engine roar, but if you and your passengers want to listen to some lyrical music for some reason, you can turn on the original AM radio or the Pioneer AM/FM stereo.
Regardless, summer is still a while away, and there’s no telling when the Impala SS Convertible will be discontinued. If you want to take it off the market now, be prepared to pay $45,995 — and get a few friends to test drive the convertible with you.
