Maruti Suzuki and Honda Cars India have launched two products in the compact sedan segment – Dzire and Amaze respectively. Both models will now enter the fully upgraded next generation. All-new Maruti Dzire expected to be launched After Diwali 2024while the new-generation Amaze will debut at the end of this year, with deliveries likely to begin in early 2025. The launch of these products is expected to revive the compact sedan segment.
The 2024 Maruti Dzire will get a major update with a new 1.2L 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine borrowed from the Swift hatchback. The engine is claimed to produce a power output of 80bhp and 112Nm of torque. Both the manual and AMT gearboxes will be carried over from the current generation. The new Dzire will also be the first vehicle in the segment to feature an electric sunroof. Inside, it is likely to feature beige interiors, a dark dashboard theme and a host of new features.
The design changes of the new Dzire will be completely different from the Swift. The compact sedan will get a new front fascia including a newly designed grille, full-LED headlights, revised bumpers and LED fog lights. New alloy wheels, a slightly tweaked rear bumper and new three-arrow LED taillights will further enhance its refreshed appearance.
Testing of 2025 Honda Amaze has begun. The latest spy photos show that the new model will be equipped with a reversing camera integrated into the smoked taillights. It will also come with three fixed head restraints and a shark fin antenna. The new Amaze will switch to the platform used by the Honda City while maintaining the same wheelbase length. Under the hood, it will continue to feature the existing 1.2L petrol engine, mated to 5-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox options.
