this Daily Selection It’s a 2015 Audi R8 V10 plus listed on ClassicCars.com by a New York dealer.
Every now and then, a car comes along that’s not only interesting but also a perfect fit for a “Pick of the Day,” and I’ve driven one and can tell you firsthand. Today’s 2015 Audi R8 V10 plus is one of those cars. In fact, it’s the same R8 I tested a few years ago, with the same Ice Silver Metallic paint, Carbon Sigma “sideblades,” and 19-inch wheels.
In 2015, when I was working as a freelance automotive journalist near Austin, Texas, I was assigned to ride in a press car (so long ago that I forgot what it was) when my then-girlfriend was coming over from out of state. A day or so before she was expected to fly in, the press fleet manager emailed me to let me know that the car would no longer be used. I told him that I understood that this happened, but that I was looking forward to the car because my girlfriend would be visiting. He responded, “Take a look at the revised schedule. I think you’ll like it.”

He was right. I had never driven an Audi before. More importantly, I had never been in a mid-engined car, especially one with a 550-horsepower, 5.2-liter V10 engine and such an unforgettable mechanical roar.

R8 V10 plus is almost It’s exactly what I expected it to be. I knew it would be more low-key than its Lamborghini siblings—as low-key as a $196,500 low-riding two-seater can get. I love that it announces its presence everywhere without shouting.

Like many Audis, the interior is handsome and high-quality, with a mix of Nappa leather seats, aluminum shift paddles, and carbon fiber trim. Sure, there was plenty of power from the V10 behind me (amplified by quattro all-wheel drive). But that was also one of the R8’s biggest surprises. The firm suspension helped the R8 grip the road and keep it stable, and no matter how deep I pressed the accelerator or how quickly the S tronic seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission shifted, it felt as if I was going 20 mph slower than I actually was. That’s fine when you’re cruising at 60 mph, but when you’re think You’re going 80 miles per hour. In a way, the Audi R8 V10 plus is “scary fast”.

Maybe the previous owner of this R8 learned that lesson himself. If they did, they didn’t put too many miles on it throughout, as there are only 37,166 on the odometer. If you pay the dealer’s $129,900 asking price, you can get to know Audi’s first generation of modern supercars from the comfort of heated diamond-quilted leather seats, the sound of a Bang & Olufsen sound system and the safety of responsive ceramic brakes. You’ll need these once you see the speedometer needle go far beyond what you expected. I know from experience that it will.
