— The 2024 Ford F-150 windshield recall affects more than 4,300 trucks equipped with windshields that may not be bonded to the truck.
This can cause the windshield to break off in a collision.
What is the reason for the 2024 Ford F-150 windshield recall?
“The windshield positioning equipment at the vehicle assembly plant was not functioning properly, causing the windshield to shift in position during the polyurethane bead application process.” — Ford
Ford says owners may see excess polyurethane sealant on the driver-side A-pillar exterior and passenger-side A-pillar interior. The issue could also cause wind noise and water leaks due to poor adhesion.
Ford learned of the windshield adhesion problem in May when workers at the assembly plant discovered that the polyurethane sealant on the inner passenger-side A-pillar had deviated from the windshield and flange.
As of June 18, 2024, Ford is not aware of any warranty reports, field reports, customer complaints, incidents or injuries related to the windshield.
Ford expects to mail the F-150 windshield recall letter on July 8, 2024.
If the windshield molding is damaged, the truck windshield will be removed and replaced. Other windshields will be removed and reinstalled using a recalibrated camera.
Owners of 2024 Ford F-150 trucks can call 866-436-7332 and reference windshield recall number 24C20.
