Hero MotoCorp has updated the Xtreme 160R 4V for India with new features like an emergency brake alert system and dual-channel ABS. Priced at Rs 1.39 lakh ex-showroom, the motorcycle is now a worthy competitor to the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, another sporty and feature-rich model in the segment. It is available in a variety of variants starting at Rs 1.25 lakh. The top-of-the-line Apache RTR 160 4V with dual-channel ABS is priced at Rs 1.39 lakh, which is the same price as the Xtreme 160R 4V. Both motorcycles come with unique features in the 160cc market, so let’s see which one is the better choice.
2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V vs TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: Design
The slim headlight, beefy fuel tank extension and inverted front forks with gold finish provide a sporty look to Hero’s 160cc commuter motorcycle. The motorcycle is available in three colours: Kevlar Brown, Stealth Black and Neon Meteor. The former is a recent addition and blends brown and black tones. The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V has a more aggressive look compared to the Hero. It gets a sharp-looking headlight design and fang-shaped LED daytime running lights, which add to the strong appeal at the front. While the fuel tank and its extension on the TVS motorcycle provide a muscular look to the overall look, they are not as large as the one on the Xtreme 160R 4V. The motorcycle is available in six colours: Knight Black, Metallic Blue, Glossy Black, Lightning Blue, Matte Black and Racing Red.

2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V vs TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: Engine
The Hero motorcycle is powered by a 163.2cc air/oil-cooled engine that produces 16.6bhp and 14.6Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The TVS motorcycle, on the other hand, is powered by a 159.7cc air/oil-cooled engine that produces 17.30bhp and 14.73Nm of torque. It also comes with a 5-speed gearbox. Although the Hero motorcycle has a slightly larger engine displacement, the TVS motorcycle is more powerful.

The Xtreme 160R 4V comes with a negative-lit LCD that is now brighter than before. It offers Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, route information and call/SMS notifications. A drag race timer is also included that records 0-60 km/h sprints and 0-402 m runs. In comparison, the TVS bike has a fully digital LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity, call and SMS notifications, turn-by-turn navigation, gear shift indicator and a collision alert system. It also comes with three riding modes (Sport, City and Rain) that adjust the power delivery and ABS engagement level.

2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V vs TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: Hardware
The hardware configuration of the Hero bike includes USD front forks, preload adjustable monoshock, a disc brake at each end and 17-inch alloy wheels. On the other hand, the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V comes with a rear monoshock and telescopic front forks. The standard version comes with a rear 130 mm drum brake and a front 270 mm petal disc brake. The front disc brake remains the same on the rest of the models, but the rear brake is a 200 mm petal disc brake.
