Honda Cars India recently launched the new-generation Amaze with prices starting at Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). Notably, the new Amaze is India’s first compact sedan and the country’s most affordable car with ADAS features. It also introduces a lane monitoring camera, located below the left ORVM to display information on the infotainment system. Furthermore, it is the only compact sedan in India to be equipped with a CVT. In terms of competitors, the updated Honda model competes with several strong rivals such as Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor. The updated Honda Amaze will be available in three variants: V, VX and ZX. Just 45 days before its launch, the entry-level V variant is priced at Rs 8 lakh, while the top-of-the-range ZX variant is priced at Rs 10.89 lakh.

Aura is Hyundai’s attractive offering in the compact sedan segment with prices starting at Rs 6.48 lakh and going up to Rs 9.04 lakh, giving buyers multiple options in this price range. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom.

In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new generation Amaze are 3,955mm, 1,733mm, 1,500mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2,470mm.
The Aura sedan retains the same length as the Amaze, with a height of 1,520 mm and a width of 1,680 mm. Additionally, its wheelbase is 2,450mm. Therefore, the new generation Amaze is 53mm wider and the wheelbase is 20mm longer than the Aura. On the other hand, the Aura is 20mm taller than the Amaze.

The 2024 Honda Amaze immediately stands out with its refreshed look, featuring a wider front grille, updated LED DRLs, and a bold chrome strip across the bonnet. In contrast, the Hyundai Aura’s front design is softer and more rounded compared to the Amaze’s bold, muscular silhouette. The Aura’s bumper-mounted LED daytime running lights and dual-part front grille help differentiate it from the hatchback model. Viewed from the side, both sedans maintain a sporty aesthetic, but the Aura’s multi-spoke alloy wheels give it a more refined look than the Amaze’s. Black window lines further accentuate the Aura’s silhouette, while the Amaze sports a more practical design that can be upgraded with chrome accents.
Moving to the rear, the Aura has a more dynamic appearance, especially the boot-mounted spoiler, while the Amaze’s updated rear echoes that of the Honda City. Both cars get a shark fin antenna and LED taillights, with the Aura connected by a chrome strip to give it a more premium look.

Mechanically, the 2025 Honda Amaze comes with a 1.2-liter petrol engine that produces 89 hp and 110 Nm of torque. It is offered with two transmission options: a five-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The Japanese automaker may also launch a CNG model soon.

The Hyundai Aura is also available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and comes with a factory-installed CNG kit. In CNG mode, the unit puts out 68bhp and 95Nm, while in standard petrol mode, it pumps out 82bhp and 114Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include five-speed manual and AMT.

The entry-level V variant of Amaze comes with features like steering controls, 4-speaker audio system, full LED lighting, 7-inch TFT instrument cluster with wireless Android Auto and 8-inch infotainment system. Apple CarPlay, and USB charging port. High-end models have upgraded equipment, adding advanced technologies such as LaneWatch cameras, lane keeping assist, Honda Sensing ADAS suite, adaptive cruise control, and road departure mitigation. Additionally, it includes standard features like Hill Start Assist and six airbags for enhanced safety.
The Aura comes with a wireless charger, rear AC vents, adjustable rear headrests, automatic climate control, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Fabric interior with Aura logo. Other features include a chrome shift knob, leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob, parking lever tip and metal-finish interior door handles. Higher-spec models offer additional frills such as upgraded footwell lighting, a 3.5-inch MID in the dashboard, and a more convenient Type-C charging port.
