Appearance design
The new Amaze adopts Honda’s latest family-oriented design language, drawing inspiration from the Elevate SUV and City sedan. The front fascia features stylish chrome accents, LED DRLs and a hexagonal grille. The bumper design and foglight bezels are very similar to the City, while prominent character lines running the length of the sedan emphasize the sharpness of the overall silhouette.
The rearview mirrors have been relocated to the doors, giving it a modern look, and two-tone 15-inch alloy wheels enhance its aesthetics. The rear is reminiscent of the Mini City, with similarly styled taillights and a clean bumper design. The Amaze is available in six paint options: Obsidian Blue Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Golden Brown Metallic, Meteor Gray Metallic and Moon Silver Metallic.
Interior features
Inside, the dashboard design is inspired by the Elevate design and features an 8-inch freestanding touch screen, a semi-digital instrument panel with a 7-inch MID and a multi-function steering wheel. The center console features wireless charging, USB ports and cup holders. Unique textured finishes on the dashboard and a two-tone black-beige theme with silver highlights add to the sophistication.
Amaze comes with:
- LED projector headlights and fog lights
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- automatic climate control
- Button start/stop
- Rear seat armrests and air conditioning vents
- All occupants are equipped with three-point seat belts
- Connected car features
Safety features include six airbags, lane monitoring camera, hill start assist, traction control, ESC and Honda Sensing ADAS, making it the most affordable car in India with ADAS suite. However, the lack of a skylight may deter some buyers.
Performance and size
The Amaze retains the 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. It offers 90 hp and 110 Nm of torque, which is slightly more powerful than the Dzire but slightly less torquey. Honda claims fuel efficiency figures of 18.65 km/l (manual) and 19.46 km/l (CVT).
The sedan is now wider and taller, improving cabin space and increasing comfort. The luggage compartment capacity is 416 liters, and Honda has also upgraded the air-conditioning system for better cooling performance.
Market position and competitors
The new Amaze will compete with the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor. Unlike its rivals, the Amaze does not offer a factory-installed CNG option, which may affect its appeal. CNG models dominate the compact car segment, accounting for over 50% of Dzire sales and over 80% of Aura sales.
in conclusion
The all-new Honda Amaze brings a new design, upgraded features and safety enhancements to the compact sedan segment. While the lack of CNG variants may limit its reach, the introduction of advanced features like ADAS at an affordable price may appeal to buyers looking for a technologically advanced yet stylish sedan. Test drives have already begun, giving customers the chance to experience the updates first-hand.
