Honda has patented a new motorcycle in India with neo-retro Roadster styling. Looking at Honda’s past patent filings, one might think this is just a global car and the company is protecting its intellectual property in India. However, this looks like an affordable motorcycle that the company may launch in India.

2025 Honda CB300R Patented?

At first glance at this patented design, anyone would think it’s a CB300R with a slightly updated design, making it even more neo-retro than it already is. This may also be true. However, there appears to be more to this patented design than meets the eye. A closer look reveals it has an air-cooled engine.

For context, the Honda CB300R has a liquid-cooled engine with no fins on the engine block for air cooling. That said, the liquid-cooled engines on the Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles have these fins installed just for aesthetics, which is a lot of attention to detail. We expect Honda to do something similar with the 2025 CB300R.

If this is true, we might be looking at the new CB300R and its much-needed updated design. It comes with new LED headlights that are almost identical to those found on the 2025 CB300R globally. The new tank is cleaner and the tank guard is simpler. There’s a stronger belly pan and more muscular body panels on the rear subframe.

The turn signals are now round, as are the instrument panel and ORVM. The main changes can be seen at the rear, where we have a neat new design. The wheels and tires look the same, and the brakes appear to have been carried over. The exhaust end can looks the same as the current CB300R, but with a new heat shield. The USD front forks and rear monoshock are also retained.

Is this the new retro Bumblebee 2.0?

Honda is likely to launch a new version of the Hornet 2.0 with a neo-retro sports car design. Yamaha took this formula and created the FZ-X based on the FZ street bike. If this is true, we could see the same 184.4cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine producing 17.3 bhp and 15.9 Nm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Given the higher performance ceiling, this new Honda Roadster motorcycle will rival the likes of TVS Ronin and Royal Enfield Hunter 350. Honda can achieve a similar excellent power-to-weight ratio as the CB300F and CB300R. For context, the RE Hunter 350 offers 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm, but weighs a hefty 181 kg. We expect it to be launched by the end of 2025.
