Performance of the Brazilian Honda Elevate may differ slightly from the Elevate as the former will run on ethanol fuel

As a test mule of the new Honda Elevate has been spotted in Brazil, the SUV is expected to be launched in 2025. The WR-V has been discontinued in Brazil in 2021, but production continues for neighboring markets. In India, the WR-V was discontinued in April 2023 and we got the all-new Elevate later the same year.

2025 Honda Elevate hybrid revealed in Brazil

Most of the exterior features of the Brazilian Honda Elevate appear to be the same as the Indian-spec Elevate. Since the test mules were heavily camouflaged, it’s difficult to pinpoint some of the subtle changes that might have been present. One of the most obvious changes are the new alloy wheels. Other features such as lighting elements, front grille and overall silhouette are basically the same as the Honda Elevate. The rear profile of the new Brazilian WR-V is also very similar to the India-spec Elevate.

Internally, the device will be similar to the Elevate. For example, the new Elevate in Brazil will feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital instrument panel. Other highlights include a premium audio system, adaptive cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear selector knob, and a wireless smartphone charger. Users will be able to access auto-locking features, auto-folding ORVMs, ambient lighting, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and smartphone connectivity.

The 2025 Honda Elevate Hybrid will be equipped with the Honda Sensing ADAS package. Features are likely to be similar to the Elevate, such as lane-keep assist and collision-mitigation braking. There’s also a road departure mitigation system, a guided vehicle departure notification system and automatic high beams.

2025 Honda Elevate – Powertrain Options

The base variant of the Brazilian WR-V will use a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, just like the Honda Elevate in India. It delivers 126 hp and 155 Nm of torque. For the Brazilian market, the engine will be paired with a CVT gearbox. In India, the Elevate is also available with a 6-speed manual gearbox option. The top-spec model of Brazil’s new WR-V will be equipped with ae:HEV flex powertrain. The test mules were spotted filling up with ethanol at a gas station.

The e:HEV flex hybrid engine is based on Honda’s e:HEV setup for several of its cars in the Asian market. To support ethanol, Honda will make some engine changes. Development of the Flex hybrid engine could involve a significant portion of Honda’s 4 billion reais investment in Brazil.

The e:HEV configuration used in the Asian market comes with a 1.5-liter NA petrol engine and two additional electric motors. The petrol engine delivers 98 hp and 126 Nm of torque, while the electric motor delivers 108 hp and 253 Nm of torque. As seen in the Civic Hybrid, the ICE engine powers the electric motor. The system also supports recharging the battery through regenerative braking. Honda vehicles equipped with e:HEV can operate in pure electric mode for a limited time.

With hybrids gaining momentum in India, Elevate is also likely to launch the e:HEV hybrid at a later date. Although Honda Cars India has said in the past that they have no plans to launch the Elevate hybrid, as of now, their focus is on launching Elevate-based electric cars.
