The 2025 Kia EV6 made its world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show, showing off significant upgrades including a longer driving range and a larger battery. Kia has enhanced the EV6’s performance and increased battery capacity to improve efficiency and extend range on a single charge. The updated model features sleek, futuristic design elements combined with advanced technology to deliver a more refined driving experience. 2025 Kia EV6: Battery and range
The 2025 Kia EV6 ditches the earlier 58kWh and 77.4kWh battery options in favor of the larger 63kWh and 84kWh batteries shared with the updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 . As a result, top-spec 84kWh RWD models now offer a range of up to 513km, a slight increase of 15km on the previous long-range RWD version. Towing capacity has also been increased to 1,225kg, enhancing the vehicle’s practicality. Additionally, the EV6 retains the ability to charge quickly via an 800-volt DC system, but the charging port on most models (except the GT) has been moved to the left rear fender and is now North American Charging Standard (NACS) compliant.
Through 2025, the EV6 continues to be available in rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations in its non-GT guise, improving its handling with better steering and a stiffer chassis. Inspired by the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, this performance-focused GT now produces 601 horsepower via its dual-motor setup, temporarily boosted to 645 horsepower in GT mode. This represents an increase of 65 horsepower over the previous GT, thus improving its performance. The EV6 GT also features the Ioniq 5 N’s Virtual Shift feature, which uses sound and torque modulation to simulate the feel of shifting gears.
2025 Kia EV6: Exterior and Interior
Externally, the design has received subtle refinements, notably the introduction of new triangular headlights. Slim LED daytime running lights (DRLs) sit above the main headlights and are connected to a light strip that runs along the gloss black trim. The lower grille is updated with a trapezoidal geometric pattern. While the full-width curved taillights retain their shape, the LED graphics have been updated and the rear bumper has been redesigned. New wheel size options – 19-inch or 21-inch – are now available, depending on trim level.
The crossover’s interior now features a curved digital cockpit with dual 12.3-inch displays, a redesigned three-spoke steering wheel, and a refreshed center console finish. The operating system has been upgraded with faster performance, and new digital features come in the form of video and music streaming, Wi-Fi hotspots, and gaming options.
In addition, owners can personalize the display with the branding of their favorite NBA team through the Kia Connect Store. The vehicle allows users to unlock, start and drive using a smartphone or NFC-enabled smart card, with the option to share a virtual key via text. Driving assistance features including remote parking and collision avoidance have also been improved.
In addition to this, the Korean manufacturer has enhanced the steering feel on all EV6 models, which now includes electrically adjustable tilt and telescopic functions for the steering column. The car benefits from increased sound insulation, and its frame has been reinforced to meet stricter IIHS safety standards.
