KTM has launched the 1390 Super Adventure R globally with an enhanced 1,350cc engine and a host of upgrades. As the flagship model in KTM’s super adventure range, it will be one of the most premium and expensive adventure tourers along with the S Evo, but pricing details are currently unclear. Production of this beast is scheduled to begin in 2025, but its launch in India is yet to be officially confirmed. However, industry reports suggest that the 1390 Super Adventure R may debut in India as a 2026 model. Before that, we’ll take a closer look at the key features of KTM’s flagship tourer.
2025 KTM 1390 Super Adventure R: What else?
The 2025 KTM 1390 Super Adventure R features LED lighting and a shorter windshield for enhanced airflow during intense riding. It now has a stronger frame to ensure improved stability and handling on rough terrain, and reinforced crash bars provide extra protection in challenging environments. The bike also has a slimmer tail, which contributes to a more agile and responsive ride. The overall design style is radical and true to KTM’s unique aesthetics. The signature orange lattice frame and contrasting blue and white tones add to the bold and dynamic look.

Unlike the S Evo’s advanced semi-active suspension, the 1390 Super Adventure R takes a more traditional approach with its suspension setup featuring a manually adjustable 48mm WP Apex Xplor USD fork and rear shock, both of which offer 220 mm travel. In terms of braking, the bike comes with Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers that clamp 320 mm front disc and 267 mm rear disc. The 1390 Super Adventure R rides on tubeless wire-spoke wheels, measuring 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear.
At the heart of the updated 1390 Super Adventure R is a new 1,350cc, 75-degree V-twin engine featuring KTM’s innovative cam shift technology. The unit delivers a strong 171bhp at 9,500rpm and 145Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. Thanks to the cam shifting system, the focus is on delivering a broad, usable powerband rather than chasing peak numbers, giving the rider a smooth, responsive experience whether on the highway or on a rough trail.
Camshift technology utilizes two different cam profiles to enhance engine performance across a wide range of rpm. Performance improves significantly at higher rpm when the intake cam moves sideways, allowing the valves to open higher and longer to allow more gas to flow into the cylinder head. At lower rpm, the intake cam has less lift and valve timing. This results in significantly improved riding performance on both high-performance routes and regular road conditions.
