2025 KTM 390 Adventure R, Enduro R, SMC R to debut at EICMA

With the updated 390 series, KTM will expand its presence in the 350cc to 450cc segment, thereby boosting sales of Royal Enfield products

KTM is known for extensive updates to its bikes. The latest example is the new 390 Duke, which has been launched in global markets including India. It comes with a new 399cc engine that the company will now offer on other models like the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure R as well. In addition, there are two 390 models this time.

One of them, called the Enduro 390 R, was also spied testing in India. The third mysterious 399cc motorcycle is called the 390 SMC R, and it will be closely related to the 390 Enduro R. In addition to these three models, KTM may also display larger motorcycles based on the 990 or 1390 platform at the 2024 EICMA.

2025 KTM 390 Adventure R

In addition to the 2025 KTM range of large bikes based on the 990 and 1390 that will be showcased at EICMA, three product showcases relevant to the Indian market will also be on display. The three upcoming motorcycles are based on the smaller 390 platform and will join the already launched 390 Duke.

They are the 390 Adventure R, 390 Enduro R and 390 SMC R. While we’ve been familiar with the 390 Adventure in the past, the 390 Enduro R and 390 SMC R are new models. It’s worth noting that we’ve already seen test mules of the 390 Enduro R, but the 390 SMC R is a complete surprise.

Presumably, it could be a Supermoto version of the platform, very similar to the enduro-style 390 Enduro R. Only the dual-sport Enduro may come with a 21-inch front wheel for extreme off-roading. Comparable to Royal Enfield’s motocross offerings.

With all these motorcycles, we can expect a sportier look and feel. LED headlights, daytime running lights, sharper edges, color-injected plastic parts and edgier graphics are all possible. The 2024 KTM 390 Duke features two-piece construction. It has a new trellis main frame, as well as an aluminum rear frame. We expect these 390 models to adopt a similar chassis setup.

what happens?

The new frame not only enhances the appearance, but is also designed to improve agility, torsional stiffness and chassis feedback. Expected to feature a WP Apex USD fork with adjustable rebound and compression damping, offset WP Apex split-piston shock with preload and rebound adjustment, new lightweight alloy wheels, new four-piston radial brakes caliper and two-piston rear caliper.

In terms of features, we can expect remote-by-wire technology, a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth and navigation, USB C charging port, illuminated switchgear, adjustable brake and clutch levers, and forged aluminum footpegs. There will also be riding modes and a host of electronic riding aids.

All these upcoming 390 motorcycles come with the same 399 cc engine that produces 44 bhp of maximum power and 39 Nm of peak torque. Bi-directional quick shifter, slipper clutch and 6-speed gearbox may be its features. The engine characteristics of each machine may be unique.

After five years, KTM is back at EICMA and likely to make a splash, showcasing its upcoming range of 390, 990 and 1390 motorcycles. The company is set to showcase some of its upcoming technologies such as AMT gearbox and 8.8-inch instrument cluster. There are also rumors about the 125 Adventure R and 125 SMC R, which will be interesting.
