2025 Opel Mokka spy photos exposed, visual effects upgraded

  • The Opel Mokka is about to receive a mid-life update, which is expected to take place early next year.
  • Changes are limited to revised bumper air intakes, tweaked LED graphics and a new steering wheel.
  • The subcompact SUV will continue to be offered with mild-hybrid and fully-electric powertrains.

Our spy photographers have caught a prototype of the facelifted Opel Mokka wearing minimal camouflage, revealing subtle styling updates for the upcoming facelifted model.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:()}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){ adpushup.triggerAd(“4d84e4c9 -9937-4f84-82c0-c94544ee6f2a”); } else{ adpushup.triggerAd(“6a782b01-facb-45f3-a88f-ddf1b1f97657”); } });

The Mokka is the first production model to adopt Opel’s latest styling language in 2020. Four years later, it’s time for a mid-life cycle update to keep it fresh in Europe’s extremely competitive subcompact SUV (B-SUV) segment.

Spy photos show that Opel designers haven’t made too many changes to the sharp exterior, and the updates are hard to spot. At the front, the bumper air intakes have been redesigned, with small patches of camouflage trying to hide them. The uncovered area has a “smiling” upper air intake, with a more prominent body-color splitter below the slimmer lower air intake.

Although not immediately apparent, the LED graphics for the headlights and taillights feature new horizontal slits while retaining a similar lighting signature that is part of the ‘Opel Compass’ design theme. At the back, an updated Opel badge and Mokka lettering are covered, while the rear bumper appears to have been carried over.

Inside, the highlight is a redesigned flat-bottom steering wheel that brings the Mokka in line with the all-new Frontera and Grandland SUVs. The rest of the dashboard looks virtually unchanged, with the digital cockpit housed within a curved panel.

We don’t expect Opel to make drastic changes to the exterior, as the subcompact SUV already uses the mild-hybrid 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine from Stellantis, which produces 134 hp (100 kW / 136 PS) from the ICE model and 28 hp (21 kW / 29 PS) from a single electric motor mounted in a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

It’s unclear whether Opel will retain pure combustion engine options, but mild hybrid and electric vehicles should be considered a fait accompli. Opel engineers could also update the subcompact SUV’s suspension setup, taking inspiration from the closely related Fiat 600, Jeep Avenger and Alfa Romeo Junior trio.

The facelifted Opel Mokka is expected to go on sale in Europe early next year. Based on the current model, the Mokka will be priced higher than the family-oriented Frontera despite its smaller size.
