2025 Renault Duster 4WD revealed: Game changer for India?

Renault Duster was first launched in 2012 and redefined the mid-size SUV segment in India. The model is said to be designed using the 3F strategy, which includes fast (adapting to the needs of the Indian market), frugal (limited budget) and brilliant (maintaining quality levels). This SUV has long been recognized for its rugged styling, comfortable interior, and off-road capabilities. Despite the Duster’s many successes, its sales gradually began to decline, and production was discontinued in early 2022 due to poor sales.

As you know, India only has the first generation Duster and its second generation model was never launched in India. Now, skipping a generation, the SUV will return in 2025 in its third-generation incarnation. Interestingly, Renault will also launch a 7-seat version of the new Duster this time to challenge the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, and Hyundai Alcazar. The 2025 Renault Duster (5-seater) will compete with rivals like Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder in the mid-size SUV segment.

The design of the new Renault Duster is largely inspired by the already unveiled Dacia Duster. Recently, the RHD (right-hand drive) version of the SUV was launched in South Africa. The same model will also come to India; however, the India-spec version will offer more features. Read: Renault plans to launch 9 new cars in India

The RHD model on display comes with a 10.1-inch standalone touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a circular dial for the 4WD selector, a three-spoke steering wheel and rear AC vents. In India, the 2025 Renault Duster will also come with ADAS technology and some other advanced features.

New Renault Duster interior

The engine specifications of the India-spec 2025 Renault Duster will be revealed on the eve of its official launch. We expect it to only come with a petrol engine. Globally, the SUV is available in three different powertrains – mild hybrid, full hybrid and LPG fuel options.
