2025 Subaru Crosstrek gets price increase, more powerful premium trims
  • The 2025 Subaru Crosstrek starts at $25,695, an increase of $300 to $500 over last year.
  • Premium trim now comes with a 2.5-liter engine that delivers 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque.
  • New safety technology includes automatic emergency steering to help prevent forward collisions.

The Subaru Crosstrek was redesigned for 2024, but that didn’t stop the company from making some updates for 2025. Most notably, the automaker is converting high quality Back to premium trim.

As part of this effort, the model swaps out the previous 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine for a new 2.5-liter engine. Thanks to this switch, output climbs from 152 hp (113 kW / 154 PS) and 145 lb-ft (197 Nm) of torque to 182 hp (136 kW / 185 PS) and 178 lb-ft (241 Nm) of torque.

The boxer unit is connected to a continuously variable transmission, which sends power to a standard all-wheel-drive system. Premium trims also come with a new X-Mode system with Snow/Mud and Deep Snow/Mud settings to better “optimize all-wheel-drive performance in bad weather or adverse road conditions.”

Given these updates, it’s no surprise that Crosstrek Premium pricing climbs from $26,345 to $26,945. Each additional pony costs $20, but that doesn’t take into account destination fees, which increase from $1,345 to $1,420.

Additional changes are limited, but Subaru mentions minor tweaks to color options and interior trim. The automaker also launched Crosstreks with rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot detection with lane-keep assist, and now comes with automatic emergency steering. It “works with EyeSight and blind spot detection to assist steering control within the travel lane, helping to avoid forward collisions at speeds below 50 mph (80 km/h).”

If you’re wondering about pricing across the lineup, the 2025 Crosstrek’s entry-level trim starts at $25,695 with the 152-horsepower 2.0-liter engine, which is $500 more than last year’s model. However, the rest of the trims remain in line with the $300 price increase on Premium.
