2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Gets New Technology But You Still Can't Buy
  • The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 has received its first major upgrade since its debut in 2021.
  • Highlights include a new 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and enhanced anti-theft measures.
  • Orders for SUVs have been suspended, and Toyota focuses on its existing waiting list.

Toyota has announced an updated version of Japan’s Land Cruiser 300 series. The SUV gets a new digital cockpit, enhanced anti-theft features, and other changes that allow it to comply with regulations. However, orders have been suspended as the company will already be ready for production priorities for buyers on a long waiting list.

Compared to the original work launched in August 2021, the 2025 Land Cruiser 300 has not brought any styling updates. Instead, Toyota focuses on technological improvements.

Inside, the highlight is a new 12.3-inch TFT digital instrument cluster with configurable graphics that are standard and high-spec interiors (entry-level models) (entry-level models have smaller 7-inch instrument clusters). This is combined with the standard 8-inch infotainment touch screen, which has the option to use it for a larger 12.3-inch display.

Land cruisers are the most stolen vehicles in Japan, which is why Toyota has introduced other anti-theft measures. The My Car Start Lock feature of the Connection Service allows owners to remotely lock the engine from their smartphones, preventing the thief from driving away. Additionally, the fingerprint authentication start button is now standard on all decorations, and there is a system to detect whether the smart key is near the vehicle. These are used in conjunction with alarms with tilt sensors and retainer systems.

To comply with Japanese regulations, the Land Cruiser 300 has been upgraded with enhanced collision damage braking capabilities, adding explosion safety to cyclists. It also gets an event data logger and improves network security.

Like its predecessor, the Land Cruiser 300 can still be used with non-electric twin-turbocharged 3.6 V6 petrol and 3.3-liter V6 diesel powertrains, which are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a full-time 4WD system. According to Toyota, diesel is now in line with Japan’s latest emission regulations.

The entry-level gasoline GX trim is priced at a slightly updated Land Cruiser 300 at 5,252,500 ($35,100), and the most expensive diesel GR Sport at 8,136,800 ($54,400). Compared to the equivalent decoration of the foreign version, the price has risen between 130,900-152,500 yen (875-1,020 USD).

Japan’s demand for the Land Cruiser 300 has always outweighed the availability of supply, resulting in a years-long waiting list. That’s why Toyota doesn’t accept new orders until it meets the existing backlog. The company issued the following apology on its official website:

“Thank you for considering purchasing our vehicles. The Land Cruiser “300” has made some improvements to comply with regulations. We have suspended orders to prioritize the production of vehicles for customers who continue to place orders and wait for delivery. We know that many customers in Japan are waiting for their vehicles and we will provide as many of these vehicles as possible and be able to deliver your tools quickly and quickly, and to enable your tools to deliver capabilities quickly and to enable your tools to maintain a good attitude. Understand.”
