- Genesis has just launched an updated version of its GV70 compact SUV.
- Each model has new exterior styling and new interior features.
- In addition, the brand currently has 60 independent retail locations in the United States.
It’s a big week for Genesis as it launches the new GV70 and electric GV70 to the public in California. The two new models benefit from a number of changes both inside and outside. The brand is also expanding its dealer footprint.
“The GV70 is our most popular model in North America, and in just three years we have welcomed more than 85,000 customers to the GV70 family,” said Claudia Márquez, COO of Genesis Motor North America.

“The newly redesigned GV70 and electric GV70 offer all the practicality and interior refinement of a great SUV without sacrificing the fun-to-drive characteristics that Genesis vehicles are known for,” she continued. Let’s take a closer look at the specific changes she’s talking about.
Longer range, standard NACS port
The new Electrified GV70 comes standard with an 84kWh battery pack. This is up from the original version of the car’s 77.4 kWh unit. While Genesis didn’t drop specific range estimates, they did say it would exceed the 236 miles (380 kilometers) offered by the current GV70. Range is probably the biggest problem with the GV70. We’re glad to see Genesis paying attention to this.
In addition, the Electrified GV70 comes standard with a NACS charging port. This means it will have access to the Tesla Supercharger network. It also comes with an adapter for connecting to a CCS charger. These are huge wins.
Subtle styling updates, huge 27-inch display
In addition, the electrified GV70 and gasoline-powered versions have new exterior and interior styling details. Each car’s front fascia has been updated, with the EV charging ports hidden in the grille itself. The taillights on each vehicle now better match the two rows of headlights.
The cabin has also been updated, with a large 27-inch OLED display that combines the instrument cluster and multimedia center. Overall, the cabin isn’t that different from today’s cars. It continues a space-age vibe with its circular control interface. This is appropriate considering the access card. On the Electrified GV70, buyers can opt for translucent panels that showcase the starry night sky. They add a positive feel to an already luxurious interior.
No powertrain changes announced
It’s worth noting that not everything has been updated or improved. After all, these are just facelifted versions of the current generation GV70. Therefore, the petrol-powered GV70 still comes with two engine options. The base model is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 300 hp (223 kW), and a 375-hp (280 kW) 3.5-liter V6 is also available. When asked about the Electrified GV70, the company told us they “won’t be revealing details just yet.” The 2024 model uses a dual-motor setup with an output of 320 kW / ~429 hp (the front and rear motors each output 160 kW), and a “Boost mode” can increase the power to 360 kW / ~483 hp in 10 seconds.
Genesis has not yet announced pricing for the GV70, but it is expected to increase. The brand says the cars will appear in dealerships in the first six months of 2025. Speaking of dealers, finding one in North America is getting easier. Genesis said it just opened its 60th store in the United States and currently has 17 more stores open in Canada. This does not include Kia or Hyundai dealers that also offer Genesis vehicles.
