  • It also has a fancier interior inspired by high-end furniture and can seat up to nine.

Hyundai Motor has unveiled the design of the new Palisade in South Korea, which enters a new generation after six years on the market. Hyundai’s largest ICE-powered SUV offering features a boxy styling language with hints of futurism and a new interior that promises more space and luxury than before.

The Palisade’s boxy appearance is similar to that of the smaller Santa Fe, but in a more upscale tone. The design language is simpler, the lines are straighter, and volume is more emphasized. At the front, large chunks of LEDs are mounted vertically, flanking a large upright grille.

The longer wheelbase, shorter front overhang and elongated tail have a positive impact on the Korean SUV’s proportions, and from certain angles it gives off a Range Rover vibe. This is made even more obvious by black pillars, a flat waistline and the shape of the LED taillights that extend into the silhouette.

Hyundai designers added aluminum-style trim around the body, matching the roof rails that appear to extend to the D-pillars. The multi-spoke alloy wheels are 21 inches in diameter, which sounds perfect for the SUV’s large footprint. The length of the Palisade has not yet been revealed, but it is expected to exceed the 5 m (196.9 inches) mark, similar to the all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 9.

In addition to fresh sheet metal, the Palisade also benefits from better interior trim inspired by high-end furniture. The digital cockpit uses dual 12.3-inch screens in curved panels for better integration into the dashboard. The gear selector has been moved from the center console to the steering column, freeing up space, while there are plenty of knobs and buttons for climate control and other functions.

The pill-shaped air conditioning vents and round door handles are reminiscent of the Genesis, as is the tan interior of the example pictured here. Other features that contribute to the premium feel include an island center console, a Range Rover-style steering wheel and wood inserts with ambient lighting.

The cabin can accommodate up to nine passengers in a three-row layout, thanks to a new center console that doubles as the front middle seat. The second row also features individual seats, while third-row passengers benefit from increased comfort and visibility.

Hyundai has not revealed the exact specifications of the new SUV, but will reveal them in full in the near future. According to the latest reports, the Palisade is expected to get a hybrid option, with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a more powerful turbocharged 3.5-liter V6.

Sales of the new Hyundai Palisade will start in the domestic market of South Korea and will later be expanded to other regions. In North America, the SUV is expected to go on sale for the 2026 model year, as its predecessor has already entered the 2025 model year.
