2026 Kia EV4 spy photos exposed, with a new body style, looks like

  • The Kia EV4 sedan may get a crossover/hatchback variant.
  • The new prototype appears to have a shorter rear end, giving it more EV6-esque proportions.
  • Both versions of the EV4 are expected to adopt the E-GMP architecture.

Kia appears to be working on a new body style for the EV4, which is expected to go on sale next year. This camouflaged prototype looks like a cross between a hatchback and a crossover, reminiscent of the Kia EV6.

The all-electric Kia EV4 follows the similarly sized internal combustion engine K4, which also comes in sedan and hatchback body styles. By offering different body styles for its upcoming electric vehicles, the company hopes to attract more buyers and cover a wider range of the compact car market.

A few weeks ago, our spy photographers spotted a prototype of the upcoming production sedan for a side-by-side comparison. The new prototype retains the same greenhouse and features a similar front end – although the latter is still hidden under heavy camouflage. The difference lies at the rear, which has a noticeably shorter overhang.

This change altered the proportions, making the EV4 look more like a little brother to the larger EV6.

With a shorter, more upright rear end than its sedan counterparts, the Kia EV4 hatchback/crossover will rival the likes of the Volkswagen ID.3 and the more affordable MG4. The new electric Kia will also be a zero-emission alternative to the K4 hatchback that will replace the outgoing Ceed.

The electric compact model is expected to share its E-GMP underpinnings with the EV4 sedan and slightly smaller EV3 crossover. The latter features an electric motor with an output of 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and two battery options with a capacity of 58.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh. The more powerful dual-motor EV4 should be considered a foregone conclusion, as Kia has confirmed that it will offer GT-branded versions of its entire electric vehicle range.

It remains to be seen whether Kia will launch both the EV4 sedan and the EV4 hatchback at the same time. Regardless, we look forward to learning more as 2025 approaches.
