The 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV is the antidote to boring Jelly Beans
  • Spy photographers have captured the Mercedes-AMG GT four-door electric car undergoing testing in Europe.
  • The model is scheduled to go into production next year, and rumors suggest the top model could have around 1,000 horsepower.
  • The car will adopt the new AMG.EA platform and compete with the Porsche Taycan.

Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door to feature electric powertrain Spy photographers have snapped new photos of the Porsche Taycan rival. It’s heavily camouflaged, but is expected to be a sleek four-door coupe.

The front end is hidden under bulky camouflage, but we can expect a fully enclosed Panamericana grille flanked by swept-back headlights. Further back, we can see curvaceous bodywork and a focus on aerodynamics.

Designers also gave the model a long hood and a sloping windshield that merges into the sloping roof. They are connected by an upward-sweeping waistline, flush-mounted door handles and a muscular rear waistline. Highlights also include lightweight wheels and a high-performance brake system with bronze calipers at the front.

The rear end is a bit of a deception, as many of the parts are ‘fake.’ However, it is worth noting that the prototype appears to have a trunk, rather than the current hatchback design, although that remains to be seen.

The automaker has been tight-lipped about the car, but has previously confirmed it will use “the first dedicated electric vehicle architecture developed by Mercedes-AMG.” The architecture is called the AMG Electric Architecture (AMG.EA), and the company describes it as a “technology trailblazer that will lead to multiple new innovations.”

Details are still closely guarded, but Mercedes has confirmed the model will feature a new high-performance battery and axial-flux electric motor technology, and spy photographers have also noted the car will feature rear-axle steering.

While there isn’t a lot of information available, the car was previewed in the Vision AMG concept, and Mercedes has previously stated that their Sindelfingen plant will “produce models based on the electric AMG.EA platform from 2025 onwards.”
