BMW’s midsize sedan is making a big change

- BMW is working on a 5 Series with Neue Klasse styling clues.
- The front end is brand new and we can also look forward to remodeled interior decoration.
- The car may have an upgraded six-cylinder engine along with improved PHEV and EV options.
The spy photographer took the first photo of the modified BMW M5 last month and now we have a glimpse of the mainstream sedan. It adopts a brand new front fascia as part of the radical Neue Klasse makeover, marking a major turnaround for the automaker.
These changes are immediately apparent as the double kidney grille gives way to a new design. While it is difficult to describe the exact look, it should respond to the vision Neue Klasse.

Although the “grid” caught the attention, the car also comes with a revised bumper and comes with new mid-sized air intakes. The lower air intake has also been remodeled as it now has a protruding vertical bar in the center.
The rest of the designs are more evolved and reflect the traditional makeover. As a result, we can expect new taillights and updated rear bumpers.
soon
Spy photographers haven’t looked at the interior well yet, but the sedan may be using Panoramic iDrive and OS X. Both are previewed on CES and will see future models come with customizable column column displays that are located under the windshield. The display is divided into multiple parts and should be connected by a central infotainment system as well as a new multi-function steering wheel that effectively replaces the nasty IDRIVE controller.
Under the hood, we can expect a mix of familiar and upgraded engines. The 2.0-liter twin-turbo turbo four-cylinder engine may continue to produce 255 hp (190 kW / 259 ps) and 295 lb-ft (400 nm) of torque, but the six rotary six-six-six-cylinders on the 3.0-liter three-energy turbo may be upgraded to 393 hp (293 kW / 398 ps) and 428 lb-ft (293 kW / 398 ps) and 428 lb-ft (580 nm). That will add 18 hp (13 kW/18 ps) and 30 lb-ft (41 nm).
We wouldn’t be surprised to see the upgraded plug-in hybrid and electric versions, but we know less about them at this point. Speaking of this, we can expect to make our debut in the second half of next year.
