- The Lexus LFR will replace the RC F GT3 with advanced technology and a V8 engine.
- A road-legal version of the LFR is expected, possibly with hybrid power and over 800 horsepower.
- The new supercar will compete with European heavyweights such as the Ferrari 296 GTB and McLaren 750S.
Good news for Lexus fans! A replacement for the LFA is on the way, as homologation rules dictate that a road-going version of the upcoming GR GT3 race car must be produced, as evidenced by recent testing in Japan and at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

This development also marks the end of the Lexus RC F GT3 racing era and the beginning of a new chapter for Lexus in the field of motorsport. Recent speculation has suggested it will be called the LRF, but what else is known about it at this time?
Wild appearance

Despite the creative liberties taken with our renderings, the LFR’s design will be very similar to its prototype, just without the extreme aerodynamic wing.
Inspired by the GR GT3 race car and the Lexus electric sports concept car, the LFR features a cab-rearward design and an exceptional wheelbase ratio, resulting in a long, elegant hood with a large front grille and powerful LED headlights.

The car has a racing-style look with a sleek rear end featuring a prominent lip spoiler and sharp taillights. While interior details remain under wraps, Lexus is likely to draw inspiration from the luxurious LC cabin, which is known for blending sophistication and sportiness.
Inside, the LFR is expected to feature a carbon fiber monocoque chassis to avoid the added weight of the BMW while increasing structural rigidity. This advanced structural choice should put the Lexus on par with Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren, making it a serious contender in the supercar space.
V8 from God
Any powertrain developer might find it daunting to match the LFA’s 4.8-liter V10. But don’t worry. While exact powertrain details haven’t been fully confirmed, the LFR is expected to share its basic powertrain with the GR GT3 race car. Spy shots show a twin-turbocharged V8 at the heart of the car, which may also feature hybrid technology.

The force-fed V8 engine and hybrid assistance combine to push output anywhere from 650 hp to over 800 hp, putting the LFR in direct competition with the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 E .
Competitors and revelations
The LFR will compete against strong rivals such as the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé, Aston Martin Vantage, Lamborghini Temerario and the hybrid Ferrari 296 GTB.
While the racing version of the LFR is expected to debut at the Daytona 24 Hours in January 2026, there is speculation that a road-legal version could also debut later that year.
